[0001] The present application is a Non-Provisional Application which claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 63 / 568,878, filed Mar. 22, 2024 and entitled A Disposable device for forming a smokable cigar core, which is hereby incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] This invention is directed to an apparatus and method for creating smokable products and more specifically to a disposable device for forming a cigar core.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Enthusiasts of smokable products, particularly cigars, often encounter several challenges in crafting them at home. Traditional methods may be complex, requiring manual dexterity and patience, often resulting in inconsistent and unevenly packed cigars that compromise the smoking experience. Additionally, many existing solutions for crafting cigars involve costly, non-disposable equipment, presenting a financial barrier for casual or first-time users. Existing devices in the field of cigar molds predominantly suffer from their substantial size and weight, rendering them less convenient for transport and on-the-go use. Furthermore, the market lacks disposable alternatives, with the majority of devices designed for repeated use, thus not only elevating initial cost considerations but also failing to provide an eco-friendly, single-use option for consumers seeking a more sustainable or occasional use solution.
[0004] Therefore, what is needed is a unique disposable, one-time-use apparatus and method for forming a cigar core that has a significantly reduced price point compared to its reusable counterparts. Constructed primarily from paper, it offers a biodegradable, environmentally friendly alternative to the options currently prevalent in the market.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0012] Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 5 the apparatus for forming a disposable plant-based cigar core comprises: a compression chamber 10 comprising a cylindrical entity constructed from paper designed to house the smokable plant material (not shown). The cylindrical entity 10 features a spiral tear design for easy removal of a finished cigar core. A bottom cap piece 12 is integrated with the lower extremity of the compression chamber 10 and features a central orifice 24 to accommodate and secure a wooden skewer 18. Furthermore, the bottom cap piece 12 acts as a base against which a compression tool 16 exerts a compressive force. The compression tool 16 is a robust cylindrical construct fashioned from paper, featuring a central aperture to maintain the wooden skewer's 18 alignment during filling and compression wherein the wooden skewer 18 is inserted through the bottom cap's orifice 24 and extends into the heart of the compression chamber 10. Its removal post-compaction creates a central airway within the cigar core.
[0013] In summary, the components work both independently and collectively to facilitate the efficient creation of a cigar core as follows:
[0014] The Compression Chamber 10 holds the material and allows for easy core removal.
[0015] The Bottom Cap 12 ensures the skewer's 18 position and provides a base for compression.
[0016] The Compression Tool 16 uniformly compacts the material.
[0017] The Wooden Skewer 18 forms the central air channel.
[0018] The method for forming a disposable smokable plant-based material cigar core using the previously defined components and referring once again to FIGS. 1 through 5 are as follows
[0019] 1. Preparation: Extract the disposable cigar mold from its packaging.
[0020] 2. Assembly: Insert Wooden Skewer 18 through the Bottom Cap's 24 central aperture 24.
[0021] 3. Filling: Fill the Compression Chamber 10 with smokable material incrementally.
[0022] 4. Compaction: Use Compression Tool assembly 16 to apply uniform pressure after each increment.
[0023] 5. Curing (Optional): Allow the filled and compacted cigar core to cure for 1-3 hours.
[0024] 6. Extraction: Tear the Compression Chamber 10 along the spiral perforation or unravel the paper tube to reveal the cigar core.
[0025] 7. Finalization: Remove the Wooden Skewer 18 to create a central airflow channel.
[0026] 8. Wrap: Wrap the cigar core in a preferred smokable article
[0027] 9. Use: the user may now use or store the finished cigar
[0028] In a preferred embodiment the disposable device for forming a smokable core is comprised of a paper compression chamber 10, a paper bottom cap 12, a paper compression tool 16, and a wooden skewer 18. The paper compression chamber 10 is made up of one or more layers of paper bound together with an adhesive around a form. One optimal embodiment includes a paper manufacturing process where a roll of paper is continuously fed in a spiral motion over a form with a cutter on the other end. This process allows for continuous production of uniform compression chambers 10. The bottom cap 12 is made of one or more layers of paper bound together with an adhesive and cut then molded into the shape of a cap that may be affixed onto the compression chamber 10.
[0029] In some embodiments, the compression chamber 10 may include a spiral tear, unravel feature, or perforated tear feature for core extraction. In some embodiments, the compression chamber 10 and bottom cap 12 may be integrated into one piece with designated openings to fill smokable material as well as hold the skewer 18 in place. Embodiments of the present disclosure may include devices where components can be made from materials other than paper or molded plant-based pulp. In another preferred embodiment, the device may be made by moldable pulp where the compression chamber 10 and bottom cap 12 are integrated into one piece. This embodiment is made by pulping plant material into a refined slurry and then molding it into a shape consisting of one opening on one side and a slot to hold the skewer on the other side.
[0030] In yet another preferred embodiment, the compression chamber 10 is constructed from a smokable material. In this embodiment, the compression chamber 10 itself serves dual purposes: it acts as both the mold for packing the smokable material and as an outer layer of the finished smoking article. After the user packs the chamber 10 with additional smokable material, compacts it, and optionally cures it, the user can remove any non-smokable components like the compression tool assembly 16 and the wooden skewer 18. The compression chamber 10, now filled and shaped, does not need to be removed or discarded because it is made from a material that is safe and suitable for smoking. This embodiment allows for immediate consumption of the smoking article without the need for an additional wrapping step, enhancing convenience and reducing waste. Such a compression chamber 10 could be made from materials like tobacco leaf, rice paper, cordia leaf, palm leaf, rose, hemp paper, hemp leaf or other plant-based materials that are combustible and provide a smoking experience, either alone or in combination with the packed material. This embodiment is best made by fashioning the bottom cap 12 out of material that could also function as a filter so it does not need to be removed by the user. In this embodiment the filter could be made out of a paper that is rolled into a spiral with a hole in the middle for the skewer 18 or out of other porous material such as those used in a standard cigarette filter, tightly bound but breathable corn husk, cellulose, other breathable plant material, or glass with one or more holes for airflow. The smokable material chosen for the smokable compression chamber 10 is then rolled around this filter such that there is at least one opening in the compression chamber 10. A variation of this embodiment would be a skewer affixed to the center of a filter allowing the user to create their compression chamber out of a smokable wrap of their choice such as hemp paper, tobacco, rice paper, banana leaf, cordia leaf, palm leaf, rose leaf or hemp leaf. The filter in this embodiment could be made out of any porous material such as paper, material such as those used in a standard cigarette filter, tightly bound but breathable corn husk, cellulose, other breathable plant material, or glass with one or more holes for airflow.
[0031] Embodiments of the present disclosure may also include a smokable wrap with a pre-attached filter, wherein a skewer 18 is affixed in the center of the filter. In such embodiments, the user can pack the smokable material directly into this wrap inserted and housed in the compression chamber. Once the cigar core is removed by tearing or unraveling the Compression Chamber 10, the cigar is fully formed, ready for use without further assembly. In a variation of this embodiment, the smokable wrap is included, but the pre-attached filter is not included and the skewer 18 is affixed to the bottom cap 12. In some embodiments the compression chamber 10 is not cylindrical but another shape that has one opening. This could be a conical shape, oval, triangle, square, rectangle, or other shape or size.
[0032] Embodiments of the present disclosure may also include a method for creating a cigar core using the device, including filling, compacting, curing (optional), extracting, and finalizing with an outer wrap.
