Abstract
Description
[0001] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 63 / 780,878 filed Mar. 31, 2025, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The disclosure relates to the field of undergarments, more specifically, to a genital concealment undergarment with elastomer gusset grip.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Individuals in a range of performance, athletic, or aesthetic contexts may seek to conceal or flatten the appearance of external male genitalia for the purpose of achieving a smooth or neutral front profile beneath clothing. This practice, commonly referred to as “tucking,” involves arranging the penis and testes into a flattened, rearward position between the legs. Tucking is used to improve the silhouette, reduce bulges, and support costuming or personal appearance goals.
[0004] Existing methods for maintaining a tuck include compression garments such as tight-fitting underwear or specially designed gaffs, and adhesive-based solutions like body tape. Compression garments often require excessive tightness, which can restrict movement or cause discomfort, while adhesives may irritate skin and are generally intended for single-use. These solutions typically rely on high compression or stickiness alone and can fail during physical activity or require frequent adjustment.
[0005] While elastomeric components are sometimes used in apparel for anti-slip functionality (e.g., in bras or thigh bands), no existing solution has integrated a frictional elastomeric element directly into the gusset region of an undergarment to hold the tucked configuration in place. There is accordingly a need for an improved undergarment that provides secure, durable, and comfortable anatomical concealment using an integrated elastomeric grip feature within the crotch area.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0016] The present invention is directed to an undergarment with an elastomeric or silicone grip feature integrated into the gusset panel to help hold the wearer’s tucked anatomy securely in place. This garment comprises a form-fitting panty with a crotch region adapted for tucking, where the inner surface of the gusset includes a tacky, high-friction elastomeric material. This creates frictional engagement with the anatomy during wear, anchoring the tucked configuration and reducing slippage during daily movement or activity.
[0017] According to certain embodiments, the undergarment provides flexible support that maintains concealment without excessive compression or adhesives. The undergarment is reusable and washable, and made using durable, skin-safe materials. The high-friction elastomeric material is applied to or embedded within the gusset. The elastomeric material can be arranged in various grip patterns such as lines, dots, or grids. The elastomeric material can be applied using techniques including lamination, printing, heat bonding, or molding.
[0018] Overall, the present invention provides a novel solution to a long-felt need. It delivers the flattening and secure hold of a traditional gaff or tape solution, but with far greater comfort, reusability, and ease of use. The following sections detail various embodiments and features of this invention, with the understanding that the breadth of the invention is not limited to the specific examples provided.
[0019] Embodiments of the present invention will now be described with reference to the above-identified drawings. [0024] The following description sets forth various embodiments of an undergarment with an elastomeric gusset grip, with reference to the accompanying figures. These examples illustrate the principles of the invention and representative ways it can be realized but are not limiting of its full scope. Features described in connection with one embodiment may be combined with those of other embodiments in suitable ways, and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as later defined in claims.Garment Structure
[0025] Referring to FIG. 2, an undergarment 10 in accordance with the invention is shown in a front interior view. The undergarment comprises a form-fitting body, with a gusset panel 20 extending through the crotch region. Integrated into the gusset is a grip region 30, shown in solid lines, representing a friction-enhancing surface designed to assist in securing a tucked anatomical configuration.
[0026] The garment body may be constructed using typical stretch fabrics, such as spandex and nylon blends, polyester, or cotton. Its overall structure resembles a standard brief or bikini-style undergarment, with the innovation residing in the interior surface of the gusset panel.Elastomeric Grip Feature
[0027] Referring now to FIG. 3, a rear interior view of the undergarment 10 of FIG. 1 is shown. The elastomeric grip region 30 is again visible along the gusset panel 20. In the embodiment illustrated, grip region 30 consists of multiple parallel strips that run laterally—across the width of the gusset, perpendicular to the direction in which the tucked anatomy would exert pressure during wear.
[0028] These strips may be formed of any elastomeric or tacky polymer, including but not limited to silicone rubber, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE / TPU), polyurethane coatings, or rubbery textile paints. The material is selected for its high coefficient of friction and comfort against skin. The strips may be screen-printed, heat-bonded, laminated, or otherwise fixed to the inner surface of the gusset fabric. The spacing, thickness, and number of strips can be optimized depending on garment size and anatomical needs. A typical configuration may include 2–6 evenly spaced strips across the gusset.
[0029] In another embodiment as shown in FIG. 4, the elastomeric grip region 30 comprises a matrix of discrete dots, also applied to the gusset panel 20. These dots form an array of friction points, collectively functioning to anchor the tucked anatomy during movement. Unlike the linear strip configuration, this dotted pattern provides more uniform resistance in all directions (isotropic grip) and allows more airflow between elements.
[0030] The dots are made of the same or similar elastomeric material as described above and may be screen-printed or heat-bonded onto the gusset fabric. This figure also shows that the grip pattern may extend beneath the waistband region 10.Material and Design Flexibility
[0031] The elastomeric grip feature may be implemented using a wide range of geometries and materials. Acceptable patterns include strips, dots, grids, or any combination thereof. The surface texture may be smooth or micro-textured to enhance contact. While FIG. 3 shows linear strips and FIG. 4 shows discrete dots, other configurations—such as curved lines, concentric zones, lattices, or hybrid patterns—are contemplated.
[0032] The elastomeric elements are preferably low-profile, with thicknesses ranging from fractions of a millimeter up to several millimeters, depending on comfort and intended use. The grip material should be durable, stretch-compatible, skin-safe, and wash-resistant. The invention is not limited to any particular application method or elastomeric material, provided the result yields a durable, friction-enhancing surface in the gusset region of the undergarment.Manufacture and Integration
[0033] The undergarment can be manufactured using standard apparel production techniques with an additional step for application of the elastomeric grip feature. According to one embodiment, the method comprises cutting the fabric pieces for the front, back, and gusset panels from a suitable stretch material. Prior to final assembly, the gusset panel 20 (which may optionally include a second reinforcing fabric layer) is processed to apply the grip region 30.
[0034] The elastomer may be silk-screened, printed, or stencil-applied to the interior-facing surface of the gusset in the desired configuration using a template. The applied material is then cured—thermally or via UV light—depending on the formulation, to achieve permanent bonding with the textile substrate. In an alternative method, pre-formed grip elements (e.g., silicone strips or dots) may be positioned on the gusset and bonded via heat press, adhesive film, or ultrasonic welding.
[0035] Once the grip elements are fixed, the gusset panel 20 is sewn to the front and rear fabric panels, and the remaining side seams are closed. Waistband 16 and leg openings are finished using elastic or binding. Throughout the process, care is taken to prevent damage to the elastomeric grip elements—such as avoiding direct heat on cured silicone surfaces. The resulting garment maintains the appearance of a conventional undergarment on the exterior, with the friction-enhancing technology discreetly integrated inside.
[0036] All selected materials should tolerate repeated stretch cycles and laundering. Silicone and comparable elastomers typically perform well under standard washing conditions and retain their tackiness if bonded securely. Fabric choices for the gusset and garment body should prioritize moisture-wicking, breathability, and skin compatibility.
[0037] The use of patterned grip application (rather than full-surface coating) helps preserve ventilation and stretch performance in the gusset.Use and Performance
[0038] In use, the wearer arranges the external genitalia into a flattened, rearward configuration and then pulls the undergarment into place as with any standard panty-style brief. As the undergarment is positioned, the elastomeric grip region 30 in the gusset panel 20 contacts the anatomy and provides frictional hold to maintain the tucked arrangement.
[0039] The grip material (whether in strip or dot form) resists unwanted shifting of the tissue during common activities such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, or exercising. Unlike adhesive-based solutions, the elastomeric grip allows for micro-adjustments while still maintaining secure hold. In the event of movement or minor displacement, the wearer can typically re-establish the correct positioning through gentle pressure over the garment, without full removal or retucking.
[0040] Comparative testing has been performed with prototypes of the invention. In one trial, users wore undergarments with elastomeric grip strips in the gusset, while control users wore similar garments without grip elements. Both groups engaged in movement trials including walking, stair climbing, deep squatting, jogging, and stretching. The grip-enhanced prototypes consistently maintained the concealed position with minimal or no need for adjustment. Control garments, by contrast, allowed the anatomy to shift and required manual correction. Users of the grip-equipped versions also reported higher comfort, citing reduced need for excessive compression and absence of skin irritation when appropriate elastomer materials were used.Additional Considerations and Embodiments
[0041] Further variations of the undergarment may be incorporated within the scope of the invention. For example: according to certain embodiments, the grip material may be made thicker or softer to provide added cushioning or comfort. In other embodiments the shape of the grip elements can be customized—such as gentle curves or domes to conform to anatomical contours. In another embodiment, a concave pad of silicone or similar material may be used at the forward portion of the gusset to support and stabilize the anatomy in its tucked configuration.
[0042] According to certain embodiments, a two-layer gusset construction may be used, with the grip material applied to the inner layer and covered by a thin outer layer to obscure the grip visually while retaining its function.
[0043] Beyond standard underwear applications, the elastomeric gusset feature can be integrated into other garment types such as, Swimwear bottoms, where the grip must withstand exposure to chlorinated or saltwater environments; Performance garments including dancewear, costuming, or compression shorts; or, Shapewear or specialized athletic garments.
[0044] The invention may also take the form of a removable insert or liner with an integrated grip region that can be added to conventional garments. While this configuration may not perform as effectively as a fully integrated gusset, it may offer a flexible or introductory use case.
[0045] The quantity, layout, and scale of grip elements can be adapted to suit various garment sizes and individual anatomical differences. For instance, larger grip zones or increased friction surface area may be appropriate for larger frames, while smaller versions may offer a better fit for smaller body types. The cost impact of adding grip features is minimal when implemented at scale, making the product commercially viable for a broad user base.
[0046] The foregoing description provides example embodiments of an undergarment incorporating an elastomeric grip gusset for anatomical concealment and stability. This design addresses a longstanding need for a secure, comfortable solution to maintaining a tucked anatomical position without reliance on excessive compression or adhesives.
[0047] The examples provided are intended to illustrate the invention and should not be considered limiting. Various changes, additions, and improvements—such as alternative grip materials, different garment configurations, or optional features (e.g., antimicrobial treatments, moisture-wicking layers, multi-zone grip mapping)—may be made by those skilled in the art. All such variations are intended to fall within the scope of this disclosure.
[0048] The inventors anticipate broad application of this concept across garment types and use cases, unified by the core innovation: an integrated, washable, elastomeric grip region located within the gusset of a garment to securely support a tucked anatomical configuration during wear.
