Abstract

The Cupless Bra / Breast Delineator is an unlined cami-style bralette with raw-cut holes positioned where the breasts should be. It will be made from unlined, lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking, 4-way stretch fabric capable of being raw-cut (with no fraying). The Cupless Bra / Breast Delineator is a step-in or pull-over garment, not having buckles or fasteners. It can be worn by itself for a bra-less feeling, or under bras, bralettes, swimsuits, and any other layers.

[0001] BACKGROUND Since 7th grade—when I went from a little girl to an adolescent with D-cup breasts (and not the Hollywood version; rather those that disappear under your armpits when you lie on your back)—I have struggled finding bras, swimsuits, and tops to fit me just right. And going bra-less was not something I felt comfortable doing, even in my own home! Cheap and cute bras were not suitable for my body, so I had to shop at bra specialty stores to fit my 32D figure, and even then, it was a full day of trying on bra after bra to find one that worked for me. I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours in my search for just the right bras! I was pretty much limited to underwire styles which are not very comfortable (and not good for your breast health) but which do help keep them lifted and more presentable than other options. Then there was the on-going search for effective and comfortable sports bras, which was a whole nother journey. I learned to wear two to get the most support and the least amount of sweat and friction, but still always ended up with a uni-boob (one big hump in the middle of my chest, instead of the two separate mounds where they are supposed to be). I am 51 years old now, and, finally, after all those years of shopping in stores and online for bras that claim to provide breast isolation, separation, support, and sweat control, and being disappointed and frustrated, I cut breast holes in one of my sports bras and realized that was exactly what I needed! I have since bought and cut holes in a number of sports bras and bralettes which I wear with the appropriate top layer (t-shirt, bra, bralette, sports bra-depending on my activity) to accomplish the natural, comfortable look (with no dripping sweat) that I have been searching for all these years! I know I am not alone in this struggle and want to offer this to other women of all shapes and sizes so they too can actually enjoy bra shopping (or going without) for a change!SUMMARY
