CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0001] This application claims the benefit of United States Provisional Patent Application 63 / 538,582 filed on Sep. 15, 2023, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety, and United States Nonprovisional Patent Application Ser. No. 18 / 435,770 filed on Feb. 7, 2024, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.FIELD OF INVENTION42
[0002] The present disclosure relates generally to wipe dispensing systems and wipe packaging, and more specifically to multi-compartment wipe dispensers, disposable dual-wipe packages, and sequential-use wipe systems configured to provide a first wipe having a formulated composition and a second wipe having a rinse or follow-up composition.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Wipes are commonly used for personal care, hygiene, cleaning, cosmetic, medical, outdoor, pet-care, and surface-treatment applications. Conventional wipe products often provide a single type of wipe in a single package or dispenser and are designed with a focus on functionality for that specific use. However, several issues have been identified with existing wipe products, dispensers, and packaging systems that limit their convenience, portability, and effectiveness.
[0004] In many use cases, a user may benefit from two distinct wipe compositions used in a particular sequence. For example, a first wipe may be used to apply a cleansing agent, sanitizer, medicament, repellent, cream, lotion, solvent, cosmetic remover, sunscreen, deodorizing composition, pet-care composition, surface-treatment composition, or other active or formulated composition. The user may also need a second wipe to rinse, dilute, neutralize, remove residue, soothe the treated area, apply a finishing composition, or otherwise complete the treatment process. Existing products often require the user to carry a separate tube, bottle, cream container, rinse source, or additional wipe package, which increases bulk, complicates use, and may reduce convenience.
[0005] Portability remains a significant concern for consumers, particularly for caregivers, travelers, campers, outdoor users, pet owners, medical users, and others who may need wipes while away from home or in environments where multiple separate containers are inconvenient. Traditional dispensers are often designed for stationary use, and single-use wipe packages generally provide only one wipe type or one formulation. The need to carry separate products for different treatment steps can increase baggage, create confusion regarding the intended order of use, and make it less likely that the user will complete the desired two-step process.
[0006] In addition, when wipes having different formulations are stored together without adequate separation, cross-contamination, premature mixing, degradation, drying, or loss of formulation integrity may occur. This can be particularly undesirable where one wipe includes an active, medicated, cleansing, repellent, cosmetic, or protective composition and another wipe includes a rinse, neutralizing, soothing, moisturizing, or finishing composition. Existing packages and dispensers may not adequately maintain separation between chemically distinct wipes while still providing convenient access to both wipes at the point of use.
[0007] Existing wipe dispensers and wipe packages also may not adequately support intuitive sequential use. In some applications, the order of use may affect performance, comfort, residue removal, skin feel, or treatment efficacy. However, conventional packaging may fail to clearly identify a first wipe and a second wipe, may fail to physically associate the two wipes as a coordinated treatment system, or may require the user to obtain the second wipe or follow-up composition from a separate product.
[0008] Accordingly, there is a need for improved wipe systems, packages, dispensers, and methods that provide paired wipes for sequential use, including a first wipe having an active or formulated composition and a second wipe having a rinse or follow-up composition. There is also a need for such systems to be usable in hard reusable dispensers, disposable sachets, twin-pack pouches, or analogous multi-compartment packaging configurations while maintaining separation of the wipes before use and improving convenience for portable, on-the-go, and multi-step treatment applications.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] Embodiments of the present invention provide dual-wipe systems, packages, dispensers, and methods configured to support a sequential wipe-use workflow. In various embodiments, a first wipe includes an active or formulated composition and a second wipe includes a rinse, neutralizing, soothing, moisturizing, finishing, or other follow-up composition. The first and second wipes are maintained separately before use and are provided together so that a user can perform a coordinated two-step process without separately carrying a tube, bottle, cream container, rinse source, or additional wipe package.
[0010] In some embodiments, the invention includes a multi-compartment wipe dispenser having separate compartments for storing different wipe types. The dispenser may include a main body, a lid, apertures corresponding to the separate compartments, a lid door, one or more sealing structures, and a mechanism that allows convenient access to the wipes while helping preserve moisture and reduce cross-contamination. In some embodiments, the dispenser is configured for one-handed operation and portable use, including attachment to a stroller, carrier, shopping cart, wheelchair, vehicle interior, bag, or other support.
[0011] In some embodiments, the invention includes a disposable dual-wipe package, such as a sachet, twin-pack pouch, dual-chamber pouch, joined pair of individually sealed pouches, or analogous flexible package. The disposable package may include a first chamber containing the first wipe and a second chamber containing the second wipe. The chambers may be separated by a seal, barrier, divider, perforation, tear region, or other structure that maintains separation of the wipes before use.
[0012] In some embodiments, the first wipe includes a cleansing composition, soap composition, sanitizer composition, medicated composition, rash-care composition, barrier cream composition, insect-repellent composition, sunscreen composition, cosmetic composition, hemorrhoid-care composition, anti-itch composition, deodorizing composition, pet-care composition, surface-treatment composition, or other active or formulated composition. In some embodiments, the second wipe includes water, a rinse solution, a neutralizing composition, a soothing composition, a moisturizing composition, a finishing composition, or another follow-up composition.
[0013] In some embodiments, the system is configured for use in baby-care, personal-care, hygiene, camping, outdoor, sanitizer, cosmetic, medical, pet-care, or surface-treatment applications. For example, the paired wipes may include a wash wipe and a rinse wipe, a sanitizer wipe and a rinse or moisturizing wipe, a rash-care wipe and a cleansing or soothing wipe, an insect-repellent wipe and a water or rinse wipe, or a hemorrhoid-care wipe and a rinse or soothing wipe.
[0014] In some embodiments, the package or dispenser includes indicia identifying a first step and a second step. The indicia may include text, numbers, colors, icons, tactile features, tabs, tear notches, access features, or other user-guidance elements. In some embodiments, the package is configured to encourage or require access to the first wipe before access to the second wipe. In other embodiments, both wipes are separately accessible while instructions or indicia communicate the intended order of use.
[0015] In some embodiments, a method includes removing a first wipe having an active or formulated composition from a first compartment, applying the first wipe to a target area, removing a second wipe having a rinse or follow-up composition from a second compartment, and applying the second wipe to the target area after the first wipe. The second wipe may rinse, dilute, neutralize, soothe, moisturize, remove residue, apply a finishing composition, or otherwise complete a treatment process initiated by the first wipe.
[0016] In summary, the invention provides a coordinated dual-wipe platform that combines separation of different wipe formulations, convenient packaging, sequential-use guidance, and portability. The system may be implemented as a reusable hard dispenser, a disposable sachet or twin-pack package, or another multi-compartment packaging configuration suitable for providing paired wipes for a two-step treatment workflow.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

[0042] An embodiment of the invention provides a multi-compartment wipe system configured for storing, dispensing, or otherwise providing moist towelettes while maintaining the integrity, moisture content, and usability of the towelettes before use. In one example of the invention, the system includes a user-friendly construction that allows a user to conveniently access multiple wipe types while reducing drying, contamination, or unintended mixing between the wipe types.
[0043] In one embodiment of the invention, the system includes a hard reusable multi-compartment dispenser. The hard reusable dispenser may include separate compartments configured to store different wipe types, such as a first wipe and a second wipe, while maintaining separation between the wipes before use. The dispenser may be configured to preserve moisture within the compartments, facilitate convenient access to the wipes, and support portable use in a variety of environments.
[0044] In another embodiment of the invention, the system includes a disposable dual-wipe package. The disposable dual-wipe package may be configured as a sachet, twin-pack pouch, dual-chamber pouch, joined pair of individually sealed pouches, or analogous packaging configuration. In such embodiments, the package may include a first compartment or chamber containing a first wipe and a second compartment or chamber containing a second wipe, with the compartments or chambers configured to maintain separation between the wipes before use.
[0045] In an example of the invention, the first wipe and the second wipe are configured for sequential use. The first wipe may include an active or formulated composition, and the second wipe may include a rinse, neutralizing, soothing, moisturizing, finishing, or other follow-up composition. In use, the first wipe may be applied to perform a first treatment step, and the second wipe may be applied after the first wipe to rinse, dilute, neutralize, soothe, moisturize, remove residue, apply a finishing composition, or otherwise complete a treatment process.
[0046] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the terms first treatment composition and second treatment composition may refer broadly to compositions carried by, impregnated in, absorbed by, coated on, stored with, or otherwise associated with the first wipe and the second wipe, respectively. A first treatment composition may include, without limitation, a cleansing composition, sanitizer composition, antimicrobial composition, medicated composition, rash-care composition, barrier composition, insect-repellent composition, sunscreen composition, cosmetic composition, makeup-removal composition, nail-polish-removal composition, hemorrhoid-care composition, anti-itch composition, deodorizing composition, pet-care composition, surface-treatment composition, solvent composition, conditioning composition, protective composition, or another active or formulated composition configured to perform a first step of a treatment workflow. A second treatment composition may include, without limitation, water, purified water, saline, a rinse solution, neutralizing composition, soothing composition, moisturizing composition, finishing composition, oil, polish, residue-removal composition, pH-adjusting composition, conditioning composition, protective composition, or another follow-up composition configured to remove, dilute, neutralize, soothe, moisturize, finish, condition, protect, or otherwise complete or modify the treatment workflow initiated by the first treatment composition.
[0047] References to wash, rinse, cleansing, moisturizing, finishing, or other specific formulation types are exemplary and do not require that every embodiment include a wash composition or a rinse composition unless expressly recited in a claim.
[0048] In this manner, embodiments of the invention may provide a coordinated dual-wipe platform in which multiple wipe types are physically associated with one another while remaining separated until use. Such embodiments may reduce the need for a user to carry separate wipe packages, rinse sources, cream tubes, bottles, or other separate treatment products, while also helping preserve the condition and intended function of each wipe before use.
[0049] In one embodiment of the invention, the hard reusable dispenser includes a lid, an upper portion having two apertures, a main body having two sealable compartments, a lid door, one or more o-ring or gasket structures, and a tethering mechanism. The lid may be configured to close over the main body and cooperate with the main body to maintain the wipes in a protected interior volume. The upper portion of the lid may include a first aperture associated with a first sealable compartment and a second aperture associated with a second sealable compartment, such that a user may access wipes stored in each compartment through a corresponding aperture.
[0050] In an example of the invention, the main body includes a first sealable compartment and a second sealable compartment. The first sealable compartment may be configured to store a first wipe type, and the second sealable compartment may be configured to store a second wipe type. The first and second compartments may be separated from one another by a wall, divider, or other separation structure to reduce cross-contamination, premature mixing, moisture loss, or transfer of formulation between the wipe types.
[0051] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid door is configured to cover the apertures when the dispenser is not in use. The lid door may be movable between an open position, in which the first and second apertures are accessible, and a closed position, in which the lid door covers the apertures. One or more o-rings, gaskets, protrusions, resilient seals, or other sealing structures may be positioned on the lid door, the lid, the main body, or combinations thereof to create an airtight or substantially airtight seal when the lid door is closed. The sealing structures may help preserve moisture within the compartments and reduce exposure of the wipes to air, contaminants, or other environmental conditions.
[0052] In an example of the invention, the hard reusable dispenser includes a tethering mechanism configured to facilitate carrying, attachment, or retention of the dispenser. The tethering mechanism may include a strap, loop, cord, clip, buckle, carabiner, flexible tether, retractable tether, or other attachment structure. The tethering mechanism may allow the dispenser to be attached to or carried by a stroller, baby carrier, shopping cart, wheelchair, vehicle interior, bag, camping gear, pet leash, bathroom fixture, or other support.
[0053] In another embodiment of the invention, a dual-wipe package or system includes a first wipe, a second wipe, a first compartment or chamber, a second compartment or chamber, a separation structure, and optional user-guidance indicia. The first wipe may be disposed in the first compartment or chamber, and the second wipe may be disposed in the second compartment or chamber. The separation structure may maintain the first wipe and second wipe apart before use so that the compositions associated with the wipes do not prematurely mix or contaminate one another.
[0054] In an example of the invention, the first wipe and second wipe are configured for sequential use. The package or system may include user-guidance indicia identifying the first wipe as a first step and the second wipe as a second step. The indicia may include text, numbers, colors, icons, arrows, tactile features, tabs, tear notches, labels, printed instructions, embossed structures, contrasting materials, or other visual, tactile, or structural features that communicate an intended order of use.
[0055] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the dual-wipe package is a disposable package comprising two individual sachets joined by a center perforation. Each individual sachet may be separately sealed and may contain a single folded wipe. A first sachet may contain a wash wipe, active wipe, or other first wipe carrying a first treatment composition, and a second sachet may contain a rinse wipe, follow-up wipe, or other second wipe carrying a second treatment composition different from the first treatment composition. The sachets may be torn apart along the center perforation before or during use, while still being provided together as a coordinated two-wipe system.
[0056] In an example of the invention, the first and second compartments of the disposable package are separated by a seal, divider, barrier, perforation, frangible region, folded region, adhesive region, heat-sealed region, ultrasonic weld, crimped seam, or other separation structure. The separation structure may maintain the first wipe and second wipe in separate environments before use while allowing a user to open the first and second compartments separately or sequentially. In some embodiments, the separation structure may also permit the first and second compartments to be separated from one another before use, such as by tearing along a perforation or frangible connection.
[0057] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid of the hard reusable dispenser is configured for easy maneuverability and convenient access to the wipes stored within the main body. The lid may be shaped, sized, hinged, or otherwise coupled to the main body so that a user can open, close, or manipulate the lid without undue effort. In some embodiments, the lid cooperates with the main body to define a protected interior volume in which multiple wipe types may be stored separately while remaining accessible through corresponding openings.
[0058] In an example of the invention, the lid includes two distinct apertures. A first aperture may correspond to a first sealable compartment in the main body, and a second aperture may correspond to a second sealable compartment in the main body. Each aperture may lead to a separate airtight or substantially airtight compartment so that a user may retrieve a wipe from one compartment without directly exposing the other compartment. This arrangement may help preserve moisture, reduce cross-contamination, and maintain separation between different wipe types.
[0059] In one embodiment of the invention, each aperture is sized to permit a portion of a user's hand or one or more fingers to pass through the aperture to retrieve a wipe. The aperture may be sufficiently large to allow convenient withdrawal of a towelette, while being sufficiently small to limit unnecessary air exchange between the compartment and the external environment. In this manner, the aperture size may balance ease of access with moisture preservation and protection of the remaining wipes.
[0060] In an example of the invention, each aperture is generally ovular. The generally ovular shape may reduce snagging, tearing, bunching, or binding of a wipe as the wipe is withdrawn through the aperture. In some embodiments, each aperture has a height of about 2 inches to about 3 inches and a width of about 1.5 inches to about 2.5 inches. Other aperture shapes and dimensions may also be used, including circular, rounded rectangular, elliptical, slot-shaped, polygonal with rounded corners, or other shapes suitable for allowing wipe retrieval while reducing excessive exposure of the compartment interior.
[0061] In one embodiment of the invention, the apertures correspond to sequential-use wipe compartments. For example, the first aperture may provide access to a first compartment containing a first wipe having an active or formulated composition, and the second aperture may provide access to a second compartment containing a second wipe having a rinse, neutralizing, soothing, moisturizing, finishing, or other follow-up composition. The first and second apertures may therefore support a coordinated use sequence in which a user retrieves and applies the first wipe before retrieving and applying the second wipe.
[0062] In an example of the invention, the lid includes user-guidance features positioned near, adjacent to, around, or otherwise associated with the apertures. The user-guidance features may identify a first step and a second step, indicate the intended order of use, or distinguish the wipe types stored in the corresponding compartments. The user-guidance features may include labels, numbers, colors, icons, arrows, tactile markers, raised features, recessed features, embossed indicia, printed indicia, contrasting surface textures, tabs, or other visual, tactile, or structural indicia.
[0063] In one embodiment of the invention, the first aperture is marked with a first indicium and the second aperture is marked with a second indicium. For example, the first aperture may be marked with “Step 1,” a first color, a first icon, or another first identifier, and the second aperture may be marked with “Step 2,” a second color, a second icon, or another second identifier. In some embodiments, the indicia may correspond to the formulation or function of the wipe stored in the associated compartment, such as wash, rinse, sanitize, soothe, repel, treat, moisturize, polish, finish, or another use designation.
[0064] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the lid, main body, lock or catch, lid door, compartment walls, and other primary structural components of the hard reusable dispenser are formed from polypropylene. In one example of the invention, engineering drawings identify polypropylene as a material for a dispenser body, lid, and lock. In other embodiments, one or more components may be formed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polycarbonate, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, nylon, thermoplastic elastomers, bio-based polymers, biodegradable polymers, composite materials, or combinations thereof. Different components of the same dispenser may be made from different materials to balance rigidity, durability, flexibility, sealing performance, chemical compatibility, cost, and manufacturability.
[0065] The materials of the lid, main body, lid door, compartment walls, and other dispenser components may be selected based on chemical resistance, moisture retention, low absorption, formulation compatibility, cleanability, durability, dimensional stability, impact resistance, consumer safety, transparency, flexibility, rigidity, stain resistance, odor resistance, manufacturing considerations, aesthetic preferences, or cost considerations. Different components of the same dispenser may be made from different materials. For example, a main body may be formed from polypropylene or HDPE, a lid door may be formed from polycarbonate, a hinge or latch may be formed from ABS or reinforced plastic, and a sealing member may be formed from silicone, rubber, foam, or a thermoplastic elastomer.
[0066] In one embodiment of the invention, the materials are selected to be compatible with formulations carried by the wipes. For example, where a first wipe carries a surfactant, sanitizer, insect repellent, rash-care composition, barrier cream, hemorrhoid-care composition, sunscreen, cosmetic composition, solvent, oil, lotion, medicament, or other active or formulated composition, the materials contacting or enclosing the wipe may be selected to reduce undesirable interaction with that composition. Similarly, where a second wipe carries water, saline, rinse solution, neutralizing composition, soothing composition, moisturizer, finishing composition, or other follow-up composition, the materials may be selected to preserve the wipe and reduce unwanted absorption or contamination.
[0067] In some embodiments of the invention, one or more components may be formed from sustainable, biodegradable, compostable, recyclable, or bio-based materials. For example, the lid, main body, lid door, disposable package, sachet, pouch, chamber wall, divider, film layer, or other component may include a biodegradable plastic, a bio-based polymer, a compostable polymer, a recyclable polymer, a paper-based laminate, a cellulose-based material, or combinations thereof. Such materials may be selected to reduce environmental impact, reduce reliance on petroleum-based plastics, improve recyclability, or provide a more sustainable product configuration.
[0068] In one example of the invention, a hard reusable dispenser may be formed from a recyclable or bio-based polymer while still providing sufficient durability, chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and moisture resistance for repeated use. In another example of the invention, a disposable sachet, twin-pack pouch, or dual-chamber package may include a biodegradable film, compostable film, paper-polymer laminate, bio-based polymer film, or recyclable flexible packaging material. The sustainable material may be selected to maintain separation between first and second wipes, preserve moisture, and resist leakage or premature drying during storage and transport.
[0069] In some embodiments of the invention, sustainable material selection may be balanced against performance requirements. For example, a material may be selected to provide sufficient barrier properties, seal strength, puncture resistance, tear resistance, chemical compatibility, and moisture retention while also reducing long-term environmental burden. In an example of the invention, a disposable dual-wipe package may include a multi-layer film in which one layer provides moisture-barrier performance and another layer provides biodegradability, recyclability, compostability, printability, or structural strength.
[0070] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a disposable twin-pack sachet is formed from a multi-layer flexible film laminate selected to provide moisture retention, structural integrity, and hermetic sealing for pre-moistened wipes. In one example of the invention, the laminate includes an oriented polypropylene outer layer, a vacuum-metallized polyethylene terephthalate barrier layer, and a polyethylene inner heat-seal layer. The outer layer may provide printability or exterior durability, the barrier layer may reduce moisture loss or environmental exposure, and the inner heat-seal layer may form sealed regions defining the sachet chambers. The packaging material may be selected to satisfy safety, heavy metal migration, or other product-compliance criteria while maintaining separation and moisture content of the first and second wipes.
[0071] In one embodiment of the invention, biodegradable plastics or bio-based polymers may be particularly suitable for single-use or disposable embodiments, while reusable embodiments may prioritize durability, refillability, or long service life. Accordingly, different embodiments of the invention may address environmental considerations through material selection, reusability, refillability, recyclability, reduced packaging volume, or a combination of these approaches.
[0072] In one embodiment of the invention, one or more components of the hard reusable dispenser are manufactured by injection molding. For example, the lid, main body, lid door, compartment wall, lid catch, lid overhang, tether attachment point, gasket grooves, hinge features, aperture structures, or other molded components may be formed by injecting molten polymer material into a mold corresponding to the desired component geometry. Injection molding may be used to produce components having complex shapes, consistent dimensions, repeatable features, and suitable surface finishes for consumer use.
[0073] In an example of the invention, injection molding allows the lid and main body to be formed with interlocking features, sealing features, apertures, gasket-receiving grooves, snap-fit structures, hinge structures, latch structures, and tether anchoring structures. Molded features may be formed integrally with the primary component, thereby reducing part count, reducing assembly complexity, improving alignment, and increasing reliability. For example, a tether attachment point may be molded as part of the main body, and a gasket groove may be molded into the lid, lid door, or main body to receive a resilient sealing member.
[0074] In one embodiment of the invention, molded components provide dimensional stability and structural integrity. Dimensional stability may allow the lid, lid door, main body, apertures, compartment walls, and sealing features to align consistently during repeated use. Structural integrity may help the dispenser resist deformation, cracking, warping, or misalignment during opening, closing, transport, attachment, cleaning, or ordinary consumer handling. These properties may be useful for maintaining an airtight or substantially airtight seal and preserving the condition of the wipes stored in the dispenser.
[0075] In another embodiment of the invention, a disposable dual-wipe package, sachet, twin-pack pouch, dual-chamber pouch, or other flexible multi-compartment package is manufactured using one or more flexible-package forming processes. For example, the package may be formed by heat sealing, adhesive sealing, ultrasonic welding, crimping, laminating, folding, film bonding, pressure sealing, cold sealing, or combinations thereof. In some examples of the invention, a flexible film or laminate is folded and sealed to form a first chamber and a second chamber. In other examples of the invention, separate film sheets are joined to form discrete chambers for the first and second wipes.
[0076] In an example of the invention, the first chamber and second chamber may be formed by one or more sealed seams, internal dividers, barrier layers, laminated layers, crimped regions, perforated regions, frangible connections, or bonded regions. The chamber-forming structures may be configured to maintain separation between the first wipe and the second wipe before use. Such separation may help prevent premature mixing, leakage, evaporation, drying, cross-contamination, transfer of active ingredients, migration of moisture, or degradation of one or more wipe formulations.
[0077] In one embodiment of the invention, a disposable package is manufactured so that each chamber can be opened separately. For example, each chamber may include a tear notch, peelable seal, pull tab, frangible seal, perforated edge, resealable flap, or other opening feature. In some embodiments of the invention, the package may be configured to promote sequential use by making a first chamber visually or structurally identifiable as a first step and a second chamber visually or structurally identifiable as a second step. In other embodiments of the invention, the first and second chambers may be equally accessible while printed or tactile indicia communicate the intended order of use.
[0078] In some embodiments of the invention, manufacturing processes may be selected to provide seal strength, moisture-barrier performance, puncture resistance, tear resistance, chemical compatibility, and storage stability suitable for the intended formulation and package configuration. For example, heat-sealed or ultrasonically welded seams may be configured to withstand handling, shipping, storage, and user opening forces while maintaining separation between the wipe formulations until use. Process parameters may be selected based on package material, wipe saturation level, formulation chemistry, expected storage conditions, and desired opening characteristics.
[0079] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a manufacturing process for a twin-pack sachet includes filling a first sachet and a second sachet at different saturation levels or fill volumes while the first and second sachets are produced as part of a joined package. In one example of the invention, a wash-wipe sachet receives a higher fill volume than a rinse-wipe sachet to support lather generation during use, while the rinse-wipe sachet receives a different fill volume selected to support residue removal and a clean skin feel. The first and second sachets may be filled during a single continuous production process in which output rate, fill volume, pump timing, nozzle flow, or another filling parameter is independently regulated for each sachet side. This differential-fill manufacturing approach may provide functionally different saturation levels for the first and second wipes while maintaining the wipes as a coordinated twin-pack product joined along a perforation.
[0080] In one embodiment of the invention, the main body forms the structural core of the hard reusable dispenser. The main body may define an interior volume configured to receive and retain multiple wipe types while supporting the lid, lid door, compartment-separation structures, sealing structures, tethering structures, and other dispenser components. The main body may be sufficiently rigid to maintain the shape and alignment of the dispenser during storage, transport, opening, closing, attachment, and repeated consumer use.
[0081] In an example of the invention, the main body includes two sealable compartments. A first sealable compartment may be configured to receive a first wipe type, and a second sealable compartment may be configured to receive a second wipe type. Each compartment may be dimensioned to receive a standard package of moist towelettes, a stack of loose wipes, a refill pack, a cartridge, a pouch, a wrapped wipe set, or another wipe-containing structure. The compartments may have the same size and shape or may have different sizes and shapes depending on the wipe type, wipe count, package shape, formulation volume, or intended use.
[0082] In one embodiment of the invention, each compartment is configured to maintain an airtight or substantially airtight environment when the dispenser is closed. The compartments may cooperate with the lid, lid door, compartment wall, gaskets, o-rings, resilient seals, perimeter seals, or other sealing structures to reduce air exchange between the compartment interior and the external environment. Maintaining such an environment may help preserve moisture, reduce evaporation, maintain formulation efficacy, reduce contamination, and extend the useful life of wipes stored in the dispenser.
[0083] In an example of the invention, the first compartment receives wipes carrying a first composition and the second compartment receives wipes carrying a second composition. For example, the first compartment may receive a packaged wipe set, loose wipes, refill wipes, or a cartridge containing a first wipe having an active or formulated composition. The second compartment may receive a packaged wipe set, loose wipes, refill wipes, or a cartridge containing a second wipe having a rinse, neutralizing, soothing, moisturizing, finishing, or other follow-up composition. The compartments may maintain the first and second wipe types separately before use.
[0084] In one embodiment of the invention, the hard reusable dispenser may be provided in multiple configurations. For example, the dispenser may be provided empty for use with refill wipes, preloaded with wipes, configured to receive removable cartridges, configured to receive individually wrapped wipe sets, or configured to receive loose wipe stacks. The dispenser may also be configured for home use, travel use, caregiver use, outdoor use, pet-care use, cosmetic use, cleaning use, or another intended environment.
[0085] In some embodiments of the invention, the main body may include alignment features, retaining features, ribs, rails, recesses, shoulders, friction-fit structures, clips, or cartridge-receiving structures to hold wipe packages, refill packs, cartridges, or loose wipes in position. Such features may help maintain alignment between each compartment and its corresponding aperture, reduce shifting during transport, and promote reliable withdrawal of wipes through the lid. The main body may also include rounded interior surfaces, drain-resistant surfaces, low-absorption surfaces, or cleanable surfaces to facilitate maintenance and reduce residue buildup.
[0086] In one embodiment of the invention, the main body includes a superior aspect configured to correspond to an inferior aspect of the lid. The superior aspect of the main body may define an upper rim, lip, shoulder, flange, ledge, sealing surface, or other interface feature that engages a corresponding surface or structure on the inferior aspect of the lid. The corresponding shapes of the main body and lid may help align the lid with the main body when the dispenser is closed.
[0087] In an example of the invention, the superior aspect of the main body and the inferior aspect of the lid have complementary contours. The contours may include curved portions, straight portions, raised portions, recessed portions, stepped surfaces, gasket-receiving regions, interlocking regions, or combinations thereof. When the lid is moved into the closed position, the complementary contours may guide the lid into a desired position relative to the main body, thereby improving alignment between the lid, compartments, apertures, lid door, and sealing structures.
[0088] In one embodiment of the invention, the interface between the main body and the lid provides secure engagement to maintain an airtight or substantially airtight seal. The interface may cooperate with one or more gaskets, o-rings, resilient seals, compression surfaces, snap-fit features, friction-fit features, latches, hinges, catches, overhangs, or other closure structures. When the lid is closed, the interface may compress or otherwise engage the sealing structures to reduce air exchange between the interior compartments and the external environment.
[0089] In an example of the invention, the contoured fit between the main body and the lid may help maintain moisture and reduce exposure of the stored wipes to external air or contaminants. The corresponding fit may also help align the lid with the main body, maintain separation between compartments, and position one or more sealing structures relative to the compartments or apertures when the dispenser is closed.
[0090] In some embodiments of the invention, the corresponding superior and inferior aspects also contribute to the appearance and handling of the dispenser. For example, the lid and main body may present a streamlined, cohesive, low-profile, or ergonomic appearance when closed. The interface may reduce protruding edges, improve hand feel, facilitate cleaning, and make the dispenser easier to place in a bag, stroller compartment, vehicle console, bathroom space, camping kit, or other storage location.
[0091] In one embodiment of the invention, an interior wall divides the main body into two separate compartments. The interior wall may extend between opposing sides of the main body and may separate a first compartment from a second compartment. The first compartment may be configured to hold a first type of towelette, and the second compartment may be configured to hold a second type of towelette. The interior wall may be formed integrally with the main body or may be formed as a separate insert, divider, cartridge wall, removable partition, or replaceable separation member.
[0092] In an example of the invention, the interior wall extends from a base of the main body toward an underside of the lid when the lid is in a closed position. In some embodiments, the interior wall extends substantially from the base of the main body to the underside of the lid so that the first and second compartments are substantially isolated from one another. In other embodiments, the interior wall may cooperate with a gasket, resilient seal, lid surface, cartridge, refill pack, or other structure to provide separation between the compartments.
[0093] In one embodiment of the invention, the interior wall reduces cross-contamination between wipe types. The interior wall may reduce physical contact, fluid migration, vapor transfer, formulation transfer, or particulate transfer between the first and second compartments. This may be useful where the compartments hold different wipe formulations, different moisture levels, different active ingredients, different substrates, or wipes intended for different steps of a treatment process.
[0094] In an example of the invention, the interior wall is formed from polypropylene. Polypropylene may provide rigidity, chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and low moisture absorption. These properties may help the interior wall maintain separation between compartments during repeated use while resisting degradation from water, soaps, surfactants, sanitizers, medicaments, repellents, creams, lotions, oils, solvents, rinse solutions, or other compositions carried by the wipes. In other embodiments of the invention, the interior wall may be formed from any of the alternative materials described herein, including HDPE, ABS, polycarbonate, a thermoplastic elastomer, a bio-based polymer, or another material suitable for compartment separation.
[0095] In one embodiment of the invention, separation between the compartments maintains different wipe formulations apart before use. For example, the first compartment may contain a first wipe having an active or formulated composition, and the second compartment may contain a second wipe having a rinse, neutralizing, soothing, moisturizing, finishing, or other follow-up composition. The interior wall may prevent the compositions from contacting one another before use, including where the compositions should not mix until use, should contact the target area in a particular sequence, or should remain separated throughout storage.
[0096] In some examples of the invention, the separated wipe pairs include a wash wipe and a rinse wipe, a sanitizer wipe and a rinse wipe, a sanitizer wipe and a moisturizing wipe, a rash-care wipe and a soothing wipe, an insect-repellent wipe and a rinse wipe, an insect-repellent wipe and a residue-removal wipe, a hemorrhoid-care wipe and a rinse wipe, a hemorrhoid-care wipe and a soothing wipe, a makeup-removal wipe and a finishing wipe, a nail-polish-removal wipe and a polish or oil wipe, a pet-care wipe and a finishing wipe, or a surface-cleaning wipe and a rinse or polish wipe. These examples are non-limiting, and other combinations of first and second wipes may be used depending on the intended treatment, cleaning, cosmetic, outdoor, personal-care, pet-care, or surface-care application.
[0097] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the main body includes a lid catch, lock, latch, or release mechanism configured to retain the lid or lid door in a closed position and to release the lid or lid door when actuated by a user. The lid catch mechanism may be positioned on or adjacent to an upper portion of the main body and may be arranged to interact with a corresponding lid overhang, tab, lip, projection, recess, latch portion, or other engagement feature associated with the lid. In one example of the invention, the lid catch is redesigned relative to an earlier dispenser design and cooperates with a spring-loaded lid mechanism so that depressing or activating the lid catch causes the lid to open automatically. The lid catch may be shaped to provide secure closure during carrying and storage while permitting one-handed or one-finger opening during use.
[0098] In an example of the invention, the lid catch mechanism includes a protruding element configured to engage a corresponding portion of the lid overhang when the lid is closed. The protruding element may extend outwardly, inwardly, upwardly, or otherwise from the main body and may be shaped to receive or capture the lid overhang. In another example of the invention, the lid catch mechanism includes a recessed area, slot, notch, depression, pocket, channel, or other receiving structure configured to receive a corresponding protrusion or overhang of the lid.
[0099] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid catch mechanism is positioned to align with the lid overhang as the lid moves toward the closed position. The alignment between the lid catch mechanism and the lid overhang may guide the lid into engagement with the main body and may help maintain the lid in a closed configuration. The lid catch mechanism may also cooperate with one or more sealing structures so that, when the lid is retained in the closed position, the lid applies pressure to a gasket, o-ring, resilient seal, or other sealing member to preserve an airtight or substantially airtight compartment environment.
[0100] In some embodiments of the invention, the lid catch mechanism may be integrally formed with the main body, such as by injection molding. In other embodiments of the invention, the lid catch mechanism may be a separate component attached to the main body by adhesive, ultrasonic welding, mechanical fasteners, snap-fit engagement, heat staking, or another attachment technique. The lid catch mechanism may be formed from polypropylene, HDPE, ABS, polycarbonate, reinforced plastic, metal, or another material selected for durability, repeated engagement, and compatibility with the dispenser body.
[0101] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid includes a lid overhang configured to interface with the lid catch mechanism of the main body. The lid overhang may extend beyond an edge, perimeter, rim, or lower surface of the lid and may be positioned to engage the lid catch mechanism when the lid is moved into the closed position. The lid overhang may be formed integrally with the lid or may be provided as a separate component attached to the lid.
[0102] In an example of the invention, the lid overhang includes a lip, flange, tab, projection, hook, shoulder, rib, protrusion, or other engagement structure. The lid overhang may be shaped to slide, snap, hook, press, seat, or otherwise engage with the lid catch mechanism. In some embodiments, the lid overhang is configured to enter a recessed area, notch, slot, channel, or pocket of the lid catch mechanism. In other embodiments, the lid overhang is configured to receive or engage a protruding element of the lid catch mechanism.
[0103] In one embodiment of the invention, the interaction between the lid overhang and the lid catch mechanism guides the lid into a secure closed position. As the lid is closed, the lid overhang may contact the lid catch mechanism and direct the lid into proper alignment with the main body. This guided engagement may help align the lid with the compartments, apertures, gaskets, lid door, and other sealing structures of the dispenser.
[0104] In an example of the invention, the lid overhang helps prevent unintended opening of the lid during carrying, storage, transport, or use. The engagement between the lid overhang and the lid catch mechanism may resist accidental lifting, shifting, or separation of the lid from the main body. This may be particularly useful where the dispenser is attached to a stroller, carrier, bag, vehicle interior, camping gear, or other support and may be subject to movement, vibration, impact, or handling.
[0105] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid overhang also helps maintain an airtight or substantially airtight seal. When the lid overhang engages the lid catch mechanism, the lid may be held in a position that compresses or maintains contact with one or more gaskets, o-rings, resilient seals, perimeter seals, or other sealing members between the lid and main body. This engagement may reduce air exchange, moisture loss, leakage, contamination, or formulation degradation within the compartments.
[0106] In some embodiments of the invention, the lid catch mechanism and lid overhang may be configured as a snap-fit closure. In such embodiments, one of the lid catch mechanism or lid overhang may include a resilient projection, tab, rib, tooth, lip, or other snap feature, and the other may include a corresponding recess, notch, slot, shoulder, undercut, or receiving feature. When the lid is moved into the closed position, the resilient feature may deflect and then return toward an original position to engage the corresponding receiving feature.
[0107] In an example of the invention, the lid overhang includes a flexible tab, and the lid catch mechanism includes a corresponding slot or notch. As the lid closes, the flexible tab may ride over an edge of the slot or notch and then snap into engagement. The engagement may retain the lid in the closed position while permitting the user to release the lid by applying a lifting, pressing, sliding, squeezing, or pulling force. The stiffness, thickness, angle, and length of the flexible tab may be selected to provide a desired retention force and user release force.
[0108] In another embodiment of the invention, the lid catch mechanism and lid overhang may form a hook-and-loop style engagement. For example, the lid overhang may include a hook-like portion configured to engage a loop, catch, recess, lip, or receiving portion on the main body. Alternatively, the main body may include a hook-like catch configured to engage a loop, lip, opening, or corresponding portion on the lid. The hook-and-loop style engagement may provide secure closure while allowing the lid to be opened by deliberate user manipulation.
[0109] In some embodiments of the invention, the closure mechanism provides tactile confirmation, audible confirmation, or both. For example, a snap-fit feature may produce a click, snap, or other sound when the lid reaches the closed position. The user may also feel a change in resistance, a detent, a snap, or a seated condition when the closure is fully engaged. Such feedback may help the user confirm that the lid is properly closed and that the sealing structures are positioned to help preserve moisture within the compartments.
[0110] In one embodiment of the invention, the catch / overhang closure may be configured to provide different closure strengths for different use cases. For example, a dispenser intended for travel, outdoor use, attachment to a stroller, or use in a diaper bag may include a stronger snap-fit or hook engagement than a dispenser intended primarily for stationary home use. In other examples of the invention, the closure may include multiple engagement points, redundant tabs, flexible arms, detents, ramps, or release surfaces to balance secure closure with convenient one-handed opening.
[0111] In some embodiments of the invention, the dispenser includes one or more additional security features configured to reduce unintended opening of the lid, lid door, or both. The security feature may be useful when the dispenser is carried, transported, attached to another object, stored in a bag, placed in a vehicle, used outdoors, or otherwise subjected to movement or handling. The security feature may help maintain the wipes in a protected environment and reduce spills, drying, contamination, or accidental dispensing.
[0112] In one embodiment of the invention, the security feature includes a locking feature associated with the lid door. The locking feature may retain the lid door in a closed position over the apertures of the lid. The locking feature may include a push-button, sliding latch, rotating latch, toggle, detent, clasp, snap lock, magnetic lock, friction lock, child-resistant lock, travel lock, or other closure-retention structure. The locking feature may be manually releasable by a user when access to the wipes is desired.
[0113] In an example of the invention, the locking feature includes a push-button. The push-button may be positioned on the lid, lid door, main body, or another accessible portion of the dispenser. Pressing the push-button may release a latch, tab, catch, detent, or other retention feature that holds the lid door in the closed position. In some embodiments, the push-button may be configured for one-handed operation so that a user can open the lid door while holding a child, pet, object, or other item.
[0114] In another example of the invention, the locking feature includes a sliding latch. The sliding latch may be movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the sliding latch may block movement of the lid door, engage a recess or catch, or otherwise retain the lid door closed. In the unlocked position, the sliding latch may permit the lid door to open. The sliding latch may include a raised grip, textured surface, tab, icon, color indicator, or other feature that helps the user identify and operate the latch.
[0115] In one embodiment of the invention, the locking feature is configured to keep the lid door closed during transport or non-use. When the lid door is closed and locked, one or more sealing structures may remain compressed or engaged around the apertures, thereby helping maintain an airtight or substantially airtight seal. This may preserve moisture and formulation integrity of wipes stored in the compartments and may reduce the likelihood of contamination, leakage, or accidental exposure of the wipes.
[0116] In one embodiment of the invention, the dispenser includes a lid door configured to cover and seal the apertures of the lid. The lid door may be movable between an open position, in which the apertures are accessible to a user, and a closed position, in which the lid door covers the apertures. When the lid door is in the closed position, the lid door may cooperate with one or more gaskets, o-rings, protrusions, seals, or sealing surfaces to reduce air exchange between the compartments and the external environment.
[0117] In an example of the invention, the lid door is positioned on a superior aspect of the lid. The lid door may be sized and shaped to cover a first aperture and a second aperture, or may include separate portions that cover respective apertures. In some embodiments, a single lid door covers multiple apertures. In other embodiments, multiple lid doors may be provided, with each lid door corresponding to a respective aperture or compartment.
[0118] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid door fits within an area on the superior aspect of the lid. The area may be a recessed area, a bordered area, a shaped receiving area, a seating surface, a depression, a channel, a pocket, a framed region, or another portion of the lid configured to receive the lid door. The lid door may be configured to seat within the area when closed so that the lid door is aligned with the lid and positioned to seal the apertures.
[0119] In an example of the invention, the area is a recessed area formed in the superior aspect of the lid. The recessed area may have a shape corresponding to the shape of the lid door. When the lid door is closed, the lid door may fit partially or fully within the recessed area. In some embodiments, an upper surface of the lid door may be substantially flush with, substantially coplanar with, or positioned below an adjacent superior surface of the lid. This configuration may provide a smooth, low-profile, or seamless appearance when the lid door is closed.
[0120] In one embodiment of the invention, the recessed area helps protect the lid door from accidental opening. For example, by positioning the lid door at least partially within the recessed area, edges of the lid door may be less exposed to incidental contact during carrying, storage, transport, or handling. The recessed area may also help guide the lid door into proper alignment with the apertures and associated sealing structures, thereby improving sealing performance and user experience.
[0121] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid door is coupled to the lid by a lid door hinge. The lid door hinge may be located on one side of the lid door and may permit the lid door to move between the open position and the closed position. The hinge may define a pivot axis, flexure region, bend line, joint, or other movement region about which the lid door rotates, flexes, or otherwise moves relative to the lid.
[0122] In an example of the invention, the lid door hinge is configured to allow smooth opening and closing of the lid door. The hinge may be positioned and dimensioned so that the lid door can move without interfering with the apertures, sealing structures, recessed area, lid catch structures, spring mechanism, or other components of the dispenser. The hinge may also be configured to provide a desired range of motion, such as movement between a sealed closed position and an open position that allows a user to retrieve wipes through the apertures.
[0123] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid door hinge is a living hinge molded integrally with the lid door, the lid, or both. The living hinge may include a thinned, flexible, or resilient portion of material that permits repeated bending between the lid door and the lid. A living hinge may reduce part count, simplify manufacturing, improve alignment between the lid door and the lid, and provide a durable connection suitable for repeated opening and closing. In some examples of the invention, the living hinge is formed from polypropylene or another polymer material suitable for repeated flexing.
[0124] In another embodiment of the invention, the lid door hinge is a separate component attached to the lid door and lid. For example, the hinge may include stainless steel, reinforced plastic, nylon, ABS, polycarbonate, metal alloy, or another durable material. The separate hinge may be attached using pins, screws, rivets, snap-fit structures, adhesives, ultrasonic welding, heat staking, molded hinge barrels, or other attachment structures. A separate hinge may be used where increased strength, longer service life, replaceability, or a particular hinge motion is desired.
[0125] In some embodiments of the invention, the hinge may include one or more hinge barrels, hinge pins, flexible straps, pivot arms, torsion elements, detents, stops, or other features. Such features may control the opening angle of the lid door, resist overextension, help maintain the lid door in an open position, or cooperate with a lid spring mechanism to bias the lid door toward an open or closed position.
[0126] In one embodiment of the invention, the dispenser includes a lid door retention mechanism configured to retain the lid door in the closed position. The lid door retention mechanism may hold the lid door against the lid, over the apertures, or within the recessed area so that the lid door remains closed when the dispenser is not actively being accessed. The retention mechanism may be configured to provide sufficient retention force to maintain sealing engagement while still allowing a user to open the lid door conveniently.
[0127] In an example of the invention, the lid door retention mechanism includes a snap-fit tab and corresponding notch. The snap-fit tab may be located on the lid door, lid, or main body, and the corresponding notch may be located on another of the lid door, lid, or main body. When the lid door is moved into the closed position, the tab may deflect and then snap into the notch to retain the lid door closed. The tab and notch may be shaped to allow release by lifting, pressing, sliding, or otherwise manipulating the lid door or a release surface.
[0128] In another embodiment of the invention, the lid door retention mechanism includes a magnetic closure. A first magnet or magnetic material may be positioned on or within the lid door, and a second magnet or magnetic material may be positioned on or within the lid. When the lid door approaches the closed position, magnetic attraction may draw or hold the lid door against the lid. The magnetic closure may provide a quiet, smooth, and repeatable retention force.
[0129] In another example of the invention, the lid door retention mechanism includes a small latch or sliding lock. A latch may pivot, flex, snap, or otherwise move into engagement with a receiving feature to retain the lid door closed. A sliding lock may move between a locked position and an unlocked position, with the locked position preventing the lid door from opening and the unlocked position allowing the lid door to open. The latch or sliding lock may include a grip surface, tab, textured region, color indicator, or other user interface feature to assist operation.
[0130] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid door retention mechanism is designed for both reliable sealing and convenient access. When the lid door is retained in the closed position, the lid door may compress or engage one or more o-rings, gaskets, protrusions, perimeter seals, or other sealing structures. This engagement may reduce air exchange through the apertures and may help maintain moisture, formulation integrity, and cleanliness within the compartments. When access is desired, the user may release the retention mechanism using one hand or a simple manual action.
[0131] In an example of the invention, the lid door protects both wipe compartments from evaporation and contamination while allowing repeated access to paired wipes used in a sequential treatment process. For example, a user may open the lid door, remove a first wipe from a first compartment, remove a second wipe from a second compartment, and then close the lid door to reseal the apertures. The retention mechanism may allow this sequence to be repeated while helping preserve the remaining wipes for later use.
[0132] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid door and the sealing mechanism are formed from materials selected for compatibility with the wipes, durability during repeated use, resistance to environmental exposure, and effective airtight or substantially airtight sealing. The selected materials may allow the lid door to withstand repeated opening, closing, transport, cleaning, and handling while maintaining alignment with the apertures and associated sealing structures.
[0133] In an example of the invention, the lid door is formed from polypropylene, HDPE, ABS, polycarbonate, reinforced plastic, or another polymeric material. The material of the lid door may be selected to provide sufficient rigidity to cover the apertures and compress sealing structures, while also providing sufficient toughness to resist cracking, warping, or deformation. In some embodiments, the lid door may be transparent or translucent to allow visual inspection of the underlying apertures, labels, wipe locations, or compartment contents.
[0134] In one embodiment of the invention, the sealing mechanism includes one or more resilient materials. For example, the sealing mechanism may include silicone, rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, foam, elastomeric polymer, or another compressible material capable of conforming to adjacent surfaces. The resilient material may be positioned on the lid door, around the apertures, along a perimeter of the recessed area, between the lid and main body, or at another sealing interface. Compression of the resilient material may reduce air exchange, leakage, evaporation, and contamination.
[0135] In an example of the invention, the materials of the lid door and sealing mechanism are selected to resist exposure to water, soaps, surfactants, sanitizers, medicaments, repellents, creams, lotions, oils, solvents, rinse solutions, cleaning agents, or other compositions carried by the wipes. The materials may be selected to reduce absorption, swelling, softening, discoloration, odor retention, residue buildup, or degradation when exposed to such compositions.
[0136] In some embodiments of the invention, the materials are selected for consumer safety and environmental resistance. For example, the lid door and sealing mechanism may be selected to tolerate changes in temperature, humidity, light exposure, repeated cleaning, outdoor use, travel, storage in a vehicle, storage in a diaper bag, or other expected conditions of use. The materials may also be selected to be non-toxic, hypoallergenic, washable, wipeable, stain-resistant, odor-resistant, or free from materials of concern for personal-care or baby-care applications.
[0137] In one embodiment of the invention, the dispenser includes a lid spring mechanism associated with the lid door. The lid spring mechanism may be positioned on the same side of the lid door as the lid door hinge, or otherwise positioned to apply an opening force to the lid door. The lid spring mechanism may cooperate with the lid door hinge to bias the lid door toward an open position when the lid door retention mechanism is released.
[0138] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the lid spring mechanism cooperates with a lid catch so that depression or activation of the lid catch releases the lid or lid door and causes the lid or lid door to move toward an open position automatically. The lid spring mechanism may be configured to bias the lid or lid door upward, outward, or away from the apertures when the lid catch is released. In some embodiments, the lid catch is shaped and positioned for one-handed or one-finger actuation, allowing a user to access wipes stored in the first and second compartments while carrying a child, pet, bag, object, or other item.
[0139] In an example of the invention, the lid spring mechanism is formed from silicone rubber. Silicone rubber may be selected because it is resilient, flexible, moisture resistant, chemically resistant, and capable of repeatedly deforming and returning toward an original shape. In other embodiments of the invention, the lid spring mechanism may be formed from rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, spring steel, stainless steel, reinforced plastic, or another resilient material.
[0140] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid spring mechanism includes one or more spring attachment protrusions. The spring attachment protrusions may extend from the lid spring mechanism and may be configured to engage corresponding spring attachment points in the lid. The spring attachment points may include openings, recesses, slots, holes, pockets, receiving channels, undercuts, or other retaining features. The spring attachment protrusions may be inserted into, through, or against the spring attachment points to secure the lid spring mechanism relative to the lid.
[0141] In an example of the invention, the lid spring mechanism is positioned to apply force to an inferior aspect of the lid door. The force may urge the lid door away from the lid toward an open position. When the lid door is open, the spring mechanism may help hold the lid door away from the apertures so that a user can access the wipes without manually holding the lid door open.
[0142] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid spring mechanism stores potential energy when the lid door is moved into the closed position. As the lid door closes, the spring mechanism may compress, bend, stretch, twist, flatten, or otherwise deform. This deformation stores energy in the spring mechanism. When the lid door retention mechanism is released, the stored energy urges the lid door away from the closed position and toward the open position.
[0143] In an example of the invention, the lid spring mechanism facilitates convenient access to wipes stored in the dispenser. A user may release the lid door retention mechanism, and the lid spring mechanism may automatically move or assist movement of the lid door toward the open position. This may allow a user to retrieve a wipe with one hand or without manually holding the lid door open. The spring mechanism may be particularly useful when a user is holding a child, pet, object, or other item.
[0144] In some embodiments of the invention, the lid spring mechanism is positioned to avoid interference with the lid door hinge, the lid door retention mechanism, the apertures, the recessed area, or the closing motion of the lid door. The spring mechanism may be sized, shaped, and located so that it applies a desired opening force while allowing the lid door to close fully and seal against the lid. The spring mechanism may also be configured so that it does not obstruct access to the apertures or interfere with withdrawal of wipes from the compartments.
[0145] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid spring mechanism is formed from silicone rubber or another elastomeric material selected to provide elasticity during ordinary use. The lid spring mechanism may be configured to bias the lid door toward an open position, a closed position, or another selected position. The lid spring mechanism may also cooperate with a lid door retention mechanism to provide controlled opening and closing of the lid door.
[0146] In an example of the invention, silicone rubber may be selected to support repeated opening and closing of the lid door. Silicone rubber or another elastomeric material may provide resilience, compressibility, and flexibility suitable for a spring, biasing member, seal, or combined spring-and-seal structure. Other elastomeric materials may be used where suitable for the intended dispenser configuration and wipe formulations.
[0147] In one embodiment of the invention, silicone rubber is selected because it resists moisture and chemical exposure. The spring mechanism may be exposed to water vapor, wipes, wipe formulations, soaps, surfactants, sanitizers, medicaments, creams, lotions, oils, repellents, rinse solutions, cleaning agents, or other compositions. Moisture resistance and chemical resistance may reduce swelling, cracking, softening, degradation, or loss of elasticity during use.
[0148] In some embodiments of the invention, silicone rubber may also be selected for consumer safety. For example, silicone rubber may be non-toxic, hypoallergenic, odor-resistant, washable, and suitable for consumer products used in baby-care, personal-care, hygiene, pet-care, or household applications. These properties may be advantageous where the dispenser is frequently handled or used near skin, infants, children, pets, or sensitive environments.
[0149] In other embodiments of the invention, the lid spring mechanism may be provided by a structure other than a silicone rubber spring. For example, the spring mechanism may include a metal coil spring, a torsion spring integrated into or adjacent to the hinge assembly, a leaf spring affixed to an interior surface of the lid door or lid, a resilient arm, an elastomeric bumper, a flexible tab, a molded biasing member, or another structure capable of urging the lid door toward an open position.
[0150] In an example of the invention, a torsion spring may be integrated into the hinge assembly so that rotation of the lid door loads the torsion spring when the lid door is closed. When the lid door retention mechanism is released, the torsion spring may rotate or bias the lid door toward the open position. In another example of the invention, a leaf spring may be affixed to an interior side of the lid door or to the lid and may flex when the lid door is closed, thereby storing energy that urges the lid door open when released.
[0151] In one embodiment of the invention, alternative spring materials include stainless steel, spring steel, reinforced plastic, thermoplastic elastomer, rubber, nylon, acetal, or other fatigue-resistant materials. The spring material may be selected based on desired spring force, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, fatigue life, cost, manufacturability, consumer safety, and compatibility with the other dispenser components.
[0152] In one embodiment of the invention, the lid door includes a protrusion, gasket, sealing member, or other sealing structure on an inferior aspect of the lid door. The sealing structure may be positioned to correspond to one or more apertures in the lid. For example, a first protrusion or gasket may correspond to a first aperture, and a second protrusion or gasket may correspond to a second aperture. In other examples of the invention, a single continuous sealing structure may surround or cover multiple apertures.
[0153] In an example of the invention, the protrusion or gasket is sized and shaped to correspond to the dimensions of the lid apertures. The protrusion or gasket may have an ovular, circular, rounded rectangular, elliptical, slot-shaped, or other shape corresponding to the aperture shape. When the lid door is moved into the closed position, the protrusion or gasket may align with the aperture and engage an edge, rim, wall, surface, or perimeter region of the aperture.
[0154] In one embodiment of the invention, the protrusion or gasket is configured to create an airtight or substantially airtight seal, or to otherwise reduce air exchange, when the lid door is closed. The protrusion or gasket may engage a surface surrounding one or more apertures, a recessed area of the lid, a perimeter sealing surface, or another portion of the dispenser. In this manner, the lid door may help maintain moisture within the compartments and reduce exposure of stored wipes to external air or contaminants.
[0155] In an example of the invention, the protrusion or gasket is formed from silicone, rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, foam, elastomeric polymer, or another resilient material. Silicone or rubber may be preferred in some embodiments because such materials can conform to surface irregularities, compress repeatedly, resist moisture, and maintain sealing performance over repeated use cycles. In other embodiments of the invention, the protrusion may be formed integrally with the lid door from a more rigid material, with sealing provided by geometry, interference fit, or contact pressure.
[0156] In one embodiment of the invention, the protrusion or gasket compresses against the aperture edges to prevent or reduce ingress of air, dust, debris, contaminants, or other external materials. The seal may preserve premoistened wipes by reducing evaporation and may protect dry wipes or less-saturated wipes from absorbing unwanted moisture from another compartment or the external environment. The seal may also help maintain the integrity of active or formulated wipes and rinse or follow-up wipes before use.
[0157] In an example of the invention, the lid door further includes an outer edge or perimeter seal. The perimeter seal may extend along all or part of the perimeter of the lid door. The perimeter seal may be a continuous gasket, discontinuous gasket, molded seal, foam seal, rubber seal, silicone seal, thermoplastic elastomer seal, compressible bead, raised ridge, or other sealing member. The perimeter seal may be positioned to contact a corresponding surface of the lid when the lid door is closed.
[0158] In one embodiment of the invention, the perimeter seal matches or generally follows the contours of a recessed area of the lid. When the lid door is seated within the recessed area, the perimeter seal may compress against recessed edges, sidewalls, shoulders, ledges, or other surfaces of the lid. This compression may fill gaps between the lid door and the lid and may reinforce the airtight or substantially airtight seal over the apertures.
[0159] In one embodiment of the invention, the dispenser includes a seal between the lid and the main body. The seal may include a continuous resilient gasket positioned around a periphery of an opening of the main body, around a corresponding portion of the lid, or between the lid and the main body. The gasket may extend around all or substantially all of the perimeter of the main body opening to help isolate the interior compartments from the external environment when the lid is closed.
[0160] In an example of the invention, the gasket compresses against the lid when the lid is moved into the closed position. The gasket may be seated in a groove, channel, recess, shoulder, ledge, or other gasket-receiving feature of the main body or lid. When the lid closes, the gasket may deform resiliently and press against a corresponding sealing surface. This compression may reduce or prevent air exchange between the interior of the dispenser and the external environment.
[0161] In one embodiment of the invention, the seal between the lid and main body helps prevent moisture loss from the stored wipes. By reducing air exchange, the seal may reduce evaporation and may help preserve the moisture content, texture, and usability of wipes stored within the compartments. The seal may also help maintain the efficacy of wipe formulations, including formulations that depend on moisture content, volatile components, or controlled exposure to air.
[0162] In an example of the invention, the seal provides additional protection against external contaminants. The gasket may reduce ingress of dust, debris, dirt, microbes, liquids, or other contaminants into the compartments. This may be useful where the dispenser is used in a diaper bag, vehicle, stroller, camping environment, bathroom, pet-care environment, medical-related environment, outdoor environment, or other setting where the dispenser may be exposed to contaminants.
[0163] In one embodiment of the invention, the sealing structures are configured to help maintain moisture and formulation integrity for chemically distinct wipes. For example, a first wipe carrying an active or formulated composition and a second wipe carrying water, saline, rinse solution, moisturizer, neutralizing composition, soothing composition, or finishing composition may be stored in separate compartments that are sealed from the external environment and from one another. The sealing structures may reduce drying, leakage, cross-contamination, or premature mixing before use.
[0164] In some embodiments of the invention, the sealing structures reduce cross-contamination between active or formulated wipes and rinse or follow-up wipes. For example, the sealing structures may reduce migration of surfactants, sanitizers, medicaments, repellents, creams, lotions, oils, solvents, rinse solutions, neutralizing compositions, or other materials between compartments. This may help ensure that the first wipe and the second wipe retain their intended compositions and functions until use.
[0165] In some examples of the invention, sealing structures may be configured with reference to gasket compression, chamber isolation, moisture-barrier properties, leakage resistance, and compatibility with the wipes and formulations stored in the dispenser. The sealing structures may be selected and positioned to reduce air exchange, reduce leakage, reduce transfer of material between compartments, and maintain the wipes in a usable condition during storage and ordinary handling.
[0166] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, dimensional tolerances and performance specifications for the hard reusable dispenser may be selected to maintain spring operation, lid catch engagement, compartment seal integrity, and gasket compression during repeated opening and closing. In one example of the invention, a compact dual-compartment dispenser includes a body, lid, lock or catch component, tether component, and spring component having dimensions specified in engineering drawings or CAD files. The body, lid, and lock may be formed from polypropylene or another material compatible with the wipe formulations. Spring tension range, catch engagement force, compartment seal integrity, gasket compression range, and related tolerances may be selected after prototyping or manufacturing validation to provide reliable closure, one-handed opening, and moisture preservation.
[0167] In some embodiments of the invention, the tethering mechanism is secured to the dispenser using one or more attachment methods. For example, the tethering mechanism may be attached to the main body or tether attachment point by high-strength bonding, ultrasonic welding, rivets, screws, resilient fasteners, snap-fit connectors, clips, pins, grommets, stitching, heat staking, adhesive bonding, mechanical interlocks, or combinations thereof. The attachment method may be selected based on the material of the main body, the material of the tethering mechanism, the expected load, the desired removability, and the intended use environment.
[0168] In an example of the invention, high-strength bonding may be used to secure a tether anchor, strap end, loop, or attachment component to the main body. The bonding material may include an adhesive, epoxy, solvent bond, thermal bond, pressure-sensitive adhesive, or other bonding composition compatible with the materials being joined. In another example of the invention, ultrasonic welding may be used to join a plastic tether component or anchor to the main body, thereby forming a strong connection without requiring separate mechanical fasteners.
[0169] In another embodiment of the invention, rivets, screws, or resilient fasteners may be used to attach the tethering mechanism to the main body. Rivets or screws may provide a durable mechanical connection and may be used where increased load capacity, serviceability, or replaceability is desired. Resilient fasteners, such as snap-fit fasteners, push-in clips, flexible tabs, elastomeric anchors, or expandable fasteners, may allow the tethering mechanism to be attached during assembly without tools or with reduced assembly complexity.
[0170] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the tether is attached to an underside of the main body of the dispenser. The underside of the main body may include an indented portion, recessed portion, channel, slot, opening, undercut, loop-receiving region, or other tether-retention feature formed in the plastic body. The tether may pass through, around, or within the indented portion so that the tether is mechanically retained relative to the main body while permitting the tether to extend outwardly for attachment to a stroller, bag, carrier, vehicle structure, cart, wheelchair, or other support. In some embodiments, the indented portion is integrally molded with the main body and is positioned to reduce protrusion of the tether attachment from the dispenser while maintaining a secure attachment point for portable use.
[0171] In one embodiment of the invention, the tethering mechanism includes an adjustable clasp or buckle. The clasp or buckle may allow the length of the tethering mechanism to be modified according to the user's needs or the size and location of the support to which the dispenser is attached. Length adjustment may allow the dispenser to be positioned at a convenient distance from the attachment point while still limiting movement, swinging, dropping, or loss of the dispenser.
[0172] In an example of the invention, the adjustable tether allows attachment to a stroller, car headrest, bathroom fixture, shopping cart, wheelchair, baby carrier, camping pack, bag, pet leash, vehicle console, changing station, or other support. The clasp or buckle may include a ladder-lock buckle, side-release buckle, cam buckle, slide adjuster, friction adjuster, hook-and-loop adjuster, cord lock, snap hook, or other adjustment feature. The clasp or buckle may be formed from high-grade plastic, metal, reinforced polymer, stainless steel, aluminum, zinc alloy, or another material selected for strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and ease of use.
[0173] In one embodiment of the invention, the tethering mechanism is durable and flexible. The tethering mechanism may bend, wrap, loop, or conform around different supports while resisting tearing, fraying, abrasion, stretching, or permanent deformation. In some embodiments, the tethering mechanism includes woven nylon, polyester, reinforced fabric, leather, silicone, rubber, elastomeric material, coated cord, braided cord, or another flexible material having sufficient tensile strength for repeated consumer use.
[0174] In an example of the invention, the tethering mechanism includes a water-resistant coating. The coating may reduce moisture absorption, staining, odor retention, microbial growth, or degradation of the tether material. The coating may also facilitate cleaning by allowing the tether to be wiped down after exposure to moisture, dirt, wipe formulations, personal-care products, outdoor environments, pet-care environments, or household contaminants. In some embodiments, the tether material and coating are selected to remain flexible and durable after repeated cleaning and exposure to humidity or water.
[0175] In one embodiment of the invention, the dual-wipe system is provided as a disposable dual-wipe package. The disposable dual-wipe package may include a first chamber containing a first wipe and a second chamber containing a second wipe. The first and second chambers may be physically associated with one another in a common package while maintaining the first and second wipes separated before use. The package may be configured for single-use, limited-use, travel use, sample use, refill use, outdoor use, personal-care use, medical-related use, cosmetic use, pet-care use, surface-treatment use, or another use environment.
[0176] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the disposable dual-wipe package is configured as a twin-pack sachet for a baby-care wash-and-rinse product. The twin-pack sachet may include a first single-use sachet containing a wash wipe and a second single-use sachet containing a rinse wipe. The first and second sachets may be held together by a perforation until use, thereby maintaining the wipes as a coordinated pair while allowing a user to separate the sachets before opening. In some embodiments, the same twin-sachet packaging format may be used for other product verticals without requiring a change to the underlying package structure, while packaging graphics, colors, typography, instructions, or branding may be varied for outdoor, hiking, camping, fishing, travel, personal-care, pet-care, cosmetic, or other markets.
[0177] In an example of the invention, the first chamber contains a first wipe having an active or formulated composition, and the second chamber contains a second wipe having a rinse, neutralizing, soothing, moisturizing, finishing, or other follow-up composition. The chambers may maintain the first and second wipes in separate environments so that the compositions do not prematurely mix, transfer, dilute, neutralize, evaporate, degrade, or contaminate one another before use.
[0178] In one embodiment of the invention, the disposable dual-wipe package includes a single pouch having an internal divider. The internal divider may divide the pouch into the first chamber and the second chamber. The internal divider may include a film wall, laminated layer, sealed seam, folded region, adhesive region, heat-sealed region, ultrasonic weld, crimped region, or other barrier structure. The internal divider may extend partially or fully between opposite sides of the pouch to maintain separation between the wipes.
[0179] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the disposable dual-wipe package includes two separately sealed pouches or sachets joined together. A first pouch may define the first chamber and contain the first wipe, and a second pouch may define the second chamber and contain the second wipe. The first and second pouches may be joined along a center perforation, frangible bridge, film web, adhesive region, heat-sealed region, or other connection that physically associates the pouches as a coordinated two-wipe unit while permitting separation by tearing. In one example of the invention, the joined package has an overall width of about 5 inches and a height of about 3 inches, and each individual sachet has a width of about 2.5 inches and a height of about 3 inches. In another example of the invention, the joined package has an overall width of about 4.625 inches and a height of about 3.125 inches, and each individual sachet has a width of about 2.5 inches and a height of about 3.125 inches. These dimensions are exemplary and may vary according to wipe size, fill volume, intended use, package material, or manufacturing tolerances.
[0180] In another example of the invention, the disposable dual-wipe package is a dual-chamber sachet, perforated twin-pack, blister-style package, peel-open package, multi-cavity package, or other flexible multi-compartment package. The package may include a physical barrier, sealed seam, heat seal, adhesive seal, peel seal, frangible seal, crimped seam, internal divider, perforated tear region, or other separation structure between the first and second chambers. The separation structure may be selected to provide sufficient barrier performance while allowing convenient user opening.
[0181] In one embodiment of the invention, the disposable package is single-use. For example, the user may open the first chamber, remove and use the first wipe, open the second chamber, remove and use the second wipe, and then discard the package. In another embodiment of the invention, at least one chamber is resealable. A resealable chamber may include a resealable flap, adhesive label, pressure-sensitive closure, zipper seal, press-to-close seal, cap, plug, fold-over closure, or other resealing structure. A resealable feature may be useful where multiple wipes are stored in one or both chambers or where the user does not use all wipes at once.
[0182] In some embodiments of the invention, the first and second chambers are individually openable. For example, the first chamber may include a first tear notch, pull tab, peel seal, frangible region, or other opening feature, and the second chamber may include a second tear notch, pull tab, peel seal, frangible region, or other opening feature. Individually openable chambers may allow the user to access the first wipe and second wipe separately, reducing exposure of the second wipe while the first wipe is being used.
[0183] In other embodiments of the invention, the package may allow simultaneous access to the first and second chambers. For example, a single peel-away cover, tear strip, removable film, or flap may expose both chambers. In such embodiments, user-guidance indicia may identify which wipe is intended for use first and which wipe is intended for use second. In still other embodiments of the invention, the package is configured for sequential access, such that the first chamber is opened before the second chamber by the arrangement of tear features, tabs, peel seals, or instructions.
[0184] In one embodiment of the invention, the wipes are arranged within their respective chambers in a folded, stacked, rolled, interfolded, compressed, or otherwise packaged configuration selected to facilitate storage and removal. The first wipe and the second wipe may be arranged in the same manner or in different manners depending on wipe size, substrate, saturation level, formulation viscosity, package shape, intended dispensing direction, or intended use sequence.
[0185] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, each individual sachet of a twin-pack package contains a single pre-folded wipe. In one example of the invention, a first sachet contains one folded wash wipe and a second sachet contains one folded rinse wipe, with the first and second sachets joined along a center perforation. Each wipe may be folded to fit within its corresponding sachet while allowing removal and unfolding by a user after the sachet is opened. In another example of the invention, a stack of multiple twin-pack sachets may be dimensioned so that the stack has a selected compressed depth suitable for shipping, retail packaging, dispenser loading, or portable storage.
[0186] In an example of the invention, the wipe arrangement is selected to facilitate removal from the chamber while reducing tearing, bunching, drying, or contamination. The chamber size, opening size, wipe fold pattern, wipe substrate, saturation level, and formulation viscosity may be selected together so that the wipe can be removed without excessive force and without exposing more of the chamber interior than necessary.
[0187] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the first wipe carries an active or formulated composition selected based on the intended use of the dual-wipe system. In one example of the invention, the first wipe is a wash wipe carrying a plant-derived surfactant system that includes soap-forming cleansing agents derived from plant oils and a mild non-ionic surfactant. The wash wipe formulation may further include aloe, glycerin, preservatives, pH-adjusting agents, buffering agents, or combinations thereof. The first wipe may be configured to create a cleansing lather, lift dirt, oils, residue, or other material from skin or another target area, and prepare the target area for a subsequent rinse or follow-up wipe. In other examples of the invention, the first wipe may carry a sanitizer composition, antimicrobial composition, medicated composition, rash-care composition, barrier composition, insect-repellent composition, sunscreen composition, cosmetic composition, makeup-removal composition, nail-polish-removal composition, hemorrhoid-care composition, anti-itch composition, deodorizing composition, pet-care composition, surface-treatment composition, or another formulation configured to perform a first step of a treatment, cleaning, hygiene, cosmetic, protective, or care process.
[0188] In an example of the invention, the first wipe is configured to replace or reduce the need for a separately carried tube, bottle, jar, spray, stick, cream container, or other formulation container. The active or formulated composition may be provided on, in, or with the first wipe so that the user can apply the composition by using the wipe itself. This may be useful in portable or on-the-go environments where carrying a separate formulation container and a separate wipe or rinse source may be inconvenient.
[0189] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the second wipe carries water, purified water, saline, rinse solution, neutralizing solution, soothing composition, moisturizing composition, finishing composition, oil, polish, residue-removal composition, pH-adjusting composition, or another follow-up composition. In one example of the invention, the second wipe is a rinse wipe carrying purified water as a primary functional component and omits surfactants or cleansing agents so that the second wipe removes residue from the first wipe rather than introducing a further cleansing action. The second wipe may also include preservatives, pH buffering agents, stabilizing agents, or combinations thereof. In other embodiments, the second wipe is not limited to a plain rinse wipe and may carry an active ingredient of its own, such as a moisturizing or conditioning agent following a cleansing step, a soothing treatment following a medicated step, or a finishing agent following a chemical removal step.
[0190] In an example of the invention, the first wipe and second wipe are chemically distinct. For example, the first wipe may include a sanitizer and the second wipe may include a moisturizer or rinse solution; the first wipe may include an insect repellent and the second wipe may include a rinse or soothing composition; the first wipe may include a rash-care or barrier composition and the second wipe may include a cleansing, rinsing, or soothing composition; or the first wipe may include a solvent or cosmetic-removal composition and the second wipe may include an oil, polish, rinse, or finishing composition. These examples are non-limiting.
[0191] In one embodiment of the invention, the active or formulated composition is impregnated into the wipe substrate. For example, the composition may be absorbed into pores, fibers, interstices, or absorbent regions of the wipe substrate so that the wipe releases the composition during use. In another embodiment of the invention, the composition is coated on a surface of the wipe substrate. A surface coating may allow the composition to be readily transferred to a target area when the wipe contacts the target area.
[0192] In another example of the invention, the composition is provided as a liquid, gel, lotion, emulsion, foam, suspension, dispersion, or semi-solid material saturating or partially saturating the wipe substrate. The saturation level may be selected based on the intended application, desired dosage, viscosity of the formulation, wipe substrate properties, packaging format, and desired shelf life. In some embodiments, the first wipe and second wipe may have different saturation levels or may carry formulations having different viscosities.
[0193] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, an active agent, cleansing agent, rinse agent, medicament, repellent, sanitizer, cosmetic composition, treatment composition, or follow-up composition is delivered as a liquid or gel solution saturating the wipe substrate. The substrate may absorb and retain the solution during storage and may release the solution onto skin, a surface, or another target area when the wipe is pressed or wiped against the target area. In one example of the invention, both a wash wipe formulation and a rinse wipe formulation are applied to respective wipe substrates as saturating liquids, with the first and second wipes differing in formulation even when the underlying substrates are the same.
[0194] In some embodiments of the invention, the composition may be carried by microcapsules, rupturable capsules, beads, reservoirs, pockets, layers, coating regions, or other carrier structures associated with the wipe. For example, pressure applied during wiping may rupture capsules or release composition from a carrier region, thereby delivering the active or formulated composition during use. In another example of the invention, different regions of the wipe may carry different compositions or different concentrations of a composition.
[0195] In one embodiment of the invention, the wipe formulation, wipe substrate, and package or dispenser are selected together to preserve the intended function of the first wipe and second wipe. For example, the package may maintain separation between wipes carrying incompatible formulations, reduce evaporation of volatile components, reduce absorption of formulation into package materials, and reduce cross-contamination before use. The formulation may also be selected to remain stable during storage in a hard dispenser, sachet, twin-pack pouch, refill pack, or other package configuration.
[0196] In one embodiment of the invention, the first wipe and the second wipe may use the same substrate. Using the same substrate for both wipes may simplify manufacturing, reduce cost, provide a consistent user feel, and allow the first and second wipes to be folded, packaged, dispensed, or otherwise handled in a similar manner. The same substrate may be suitable where the first and second wipes differ primarily in formulation rather than in physical wiping function.
[0197] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, both the first wipe and the second wipe use the same wipe substrate while carrying different saturating compositions. In one example of the invention, the first wipe and the second wipe each comprise a 50 GSM embossed 100% viscose nonwoven fabric. The substrate may be plant-based, biodegradable, and selected to provide a consistent tactile feel for both the first and second wipes. In such an embodiment, the functional distinction between the first wipe and the second wipe may be provided primarily by the saturating solution rather than by different physical substrates.
[0198] In some embodiments, the plant-derived surfactant system includes one or more plant-derived soap-forming cleansing agents and one or more mild non-ionic surfactants. In one example, the plant-derived surfactant system includes potassium olivate, potassium cocoate, decyl glucoside, or combinations thereof. These ingredients are exemplary, and other plant-derived or naturally derived surfactants, soap-forming cleansing agents, non-ionic surfactants, amphoteric surfactants, or mild cleansing agents may be used.
[0199] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the wipe substrate absorbs and retains a liquid or gel solution during storage and releases the solution onto skin, a surface, or another target area when the wipe is pressed or wiped against the target area. In one example of the invention, both a wash wipe formulation and a rinse wipe formulation are applied to respective wipe substrates as saturating liquids, with the first and second wipes differing in formulation even when the underlying substrates are the same. In other embodiments, a medicated composition, repellent composition, sanitizer composition, cosmetic-removal composition, nail-polish-removal composition, soothing composition, moisturizing composition, finishing composition, or other active or follow-up composition is delivered through the same liquid-saturated or gel-saturated wipe architecture.
[0200] In another embodiment of the invention, the first wipe and the second wipe may use different substrates. Different substrates may be selected where the first wipe and second wipe perform different functions during a sequential-use process. For example, the first wipe may be configured to apply, scrub, cleanse, remove, exfoliate, dissolve, or deposit a composition, while the second wipe may be configured to rinse, absorb, soothe, dry, polish, moisturize, or remove residue. The substrate properties may therefore be selected to support the intended function of each wipe.
[0201] In an example of the invention, one wipe may be softer than the other. A softer wipe may be used for sensitive skin, baby care, facial use, hemorrhoid-care use, pet-care use, soothing, moisturizing, or finishing. In another example of the invention, one wipe may be more textured or more abrasive than the other. A textured or more abrasive wipe may be used for cleaning, exfoliation, surface treatment, residue removal, nail-polish removal, outdoor use, pet-care use, or applications requiring increased mechanical action.
[0202] In one embodiment of the invention, one wipe may be more absorbent than the other. For example, a rinse or follow-up wipe may be more absorbent to remove excess formulation, moisture, residue, dirt, or contaminants after a first wipe has been used. In another example of the invention, a first wipe may be more absorbent to carry a larger amount of active or formulated composition. The first and second wipes may also differ in thickness, density, porosity, fiber content, stretch, strength, or liquid-holding capacity.
[0203] In some embodiments of the invention, the wipe substrate may be nonwoven, woven, knit, spunlace, meltblown, airlaid, hydroentangled, needle-punched, cotton-based, cellulose-based, bamboo-based, rayon-based, polymer-based, polyester-based, polypropylene-based, polyethylene-based, biodegradable, compostable, flushable where appropriate, or a blended material. The substrate may include natural fibers, synthetic fibers, regenerated fibers, biodegradable fibers, absorbent fibers, abrasive fibers, soft fibers, or combinations thereof.
[0204] In an example of the invention, the first wipe and second wipe are individually selected from substrates having different tactile or functional properties. For example, the first wipe may include a textured nonwoven substrate carrying a cleansing or active composition, and the second wipe may include a softer absorbent substrate carrying water, rinse solution, soothing composition, or moisturizer. In another example of the invention, the first wipe may include a solvent-compatible substrate for makeup or polish removal, and the second wipe may include a finishing substrate carrying oil, polish, moisturizer, or residue-removal composition.
[0205] In one embodiment of the invention, the substrate material is selected in view of the formulation carried by the wipe. For example, a substrate may be selected to resist degradation, tearing, swelling, linting, excessive absorption, chemical breakdown, or undesirable interaction with the carried formulation. The substrate may also be selected based on the intended target area, such as skin, face, hands, diaper area, nails, pet fur, household surface, outdoor article, or other target.
[0206] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a method of using a hard reusable dispenser includes actuating a lid catch, lock, latch, button, or other release structure with one hand or one finger to release a spring-loaded lid or lid door. Upon release, a spring mechanism biases the lid or lid door toward an open position so that first and second compartments of the dispenser are exposed at the same time. The first and second compartments may be pre-loaded with folded wipes, such as wash wipes in one compartment and rinse wipes in another compartment. In some embodiments, the compartments are interchangeable and are not required to be permanently labeled, color-coded, or dedicated to a specific wipe type.
[0207] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, after the lid or lid door opens, the user removes a first wipe from a first compartment, unfolds the first wipe as needed, and applies the first wipe to the target area. The user then removes a second wipe from a second compartment, unfolds the second wipe as needed, and applies the second wipe to the target area after the first wipe. After use, the user closes the lid or lid door until the lid catch, lock, latch, or other retention structure re-engages, thereby resealing the compartments to preserve remaining wipes. In one example of the invention, the hard dispenser is a compact dual-compartment container having a redesigned lid catch and spring-loaded opening mechanism configured for convenient one-handed access.
[0208] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a method of using a disposable sachet, twin-pack pouch, or dual-chamber package includes providing two individual single-use sachets joined along a center perforation, each individual sachet containing a pre-folded wipe. The user may separate the two sachets by tearing along the center perforation or may handle the joined sachets together as a unit. The user opens a first sachet containing a first wipe, removes the pre-folded first wipe, unfolds the first wipe as needed, and applies the first wipe to a target area. In one example of the invention, the first wipe is a wash wipe that is applied with light pressure sufficient to activate, distribute, or generate a cleansing lather.
[0209] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, after applying the first wipe, the user opens a second sachet containing a second wipe, removes the pre-folded second wipe, unfolds the second wipe as needed, and applies the second wipe to the same target area, an overlapping target area, or a related target area. In one example of the invention, the second wipe is a rinse wipe that removes cleansing residue left by the wash wipe to provide a clean, soft, fresh, or just-washed feel. The used wipes and opened sachets may then be discarded. In some embodiments, each sachet is single-use and non-resealable, while other embodiments may include resealable features where multiple wipes or limited-use access is desired.
[0210] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the second wipe may be applied immediately after the first wipe without requiring a drying, absorption, or dwell period between the first and second wipe applications. In one example of the invention, a wash wipe is applied to skin or another target area to generate, distribute, or activate a cleansing lather, and a rinse wipe is applied while the wash composition remains wet on the target area. The rinse wipe may thereby remove surfactant residue, loosened dirt, oils, or other material while the first composition is still present and removable. In this manner, the system may simulate a soap-and-water washing sequence in which rinsing follows lathering as part of a continuous use process.
[0211] In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, a dwell time may optionally occur between use of the first wipe and use of the second wipe depending on the particular formulation, target area, or treatment objective. For example, a sanitizer wipe, medicated wipe, insect-repellent wipe, sunscreen wipe, rash-care wipe, hemorrhoid-care wipe, cosmetic wipe, polish-removal wipe, pet-care wipe, or surface-treatment wipe may be followed by a second wipe after a time selected to allow the first composition to perform an intended function. Thus, the system supports both an immediate wash-and-rinse sequence and other sequential-use workflows in which a user, manufacturer, instruction, or formulation requirement specifies a delay before the second wipe is applied.
[0212] In some embodiments of the invention, the target area includes a portion of a human body, such as skin, hands, face, diaper area, affected body region, hemorrhoid-care region, cosmetic region, nail, or other body region. In other embodiments of the invention, the target area includes an animal, pet, pet fur, paw, article, surface, household surface, vehicle surface, camping gear, outdoor article, medical-related surface, cosmetic tool, personal item, or other object. The target area may be selected based on the paired wipe formulation and the intended two-step workflow.
[0213] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the first wipe and the second wipe are used in a prescribed, recommended, indicated, or preferred order in which the first wipe is applied before the second wipe. In one example of the invention, the first wipe is a wash wipe carrying a cleansing formulation and the second wipe is a rinse wipe carrying a purified-water-based rinse formulation. Reversing the order does not necessarily harm the user, but may fail to produce the intended result because the rinse wipe lacks cleansing agents and therefore does not effectively lift dirt, oils, or residue before the wash wipe is applied. If the wash wipe is then applied after the rinse wipe, cleansing formulation may remain on the target area without a follow-up rinse wipe to remove it. Accordingly, the wash-first / rinse-second sequence is functionally significant because the first wipe loosens, lifts, or mobilizes material from the target area and the second wipe removes the material and residual first composition from the target area. In some embodiments, one or both wipes may be usable independently, but the coordinated sequential use produces a residue-reduced or residue-free result not obtained when the first wipe is used alone.
[0214] In one embodiment of the invention, the dual-wipe package or dispenser is part of a complete two-wipe treatment system. The system may include a first wipe configured to perform a first step of a treatment, cleaning, hygiene, cosmetic, protective, or care process and a second wipe configured to perform a second step of the process. By providing the first and second wipes together in separated compartments or chambers, the system may reduce or eliminate the need for a user to carry a separate cream tube, bottle, rinse container, spray container, jar, applicator, towel, or second wipe package.
[0215] In an example of the invention, the two-wipe treatment system includes a first wipe carrying a formulated composition and a second wipe carrying a follow-up composition. The formulated composition may be applied using the first wipe, and the follow-up composition may be applied using the second wipe. This arrangement may allow the user to perform a coordinated workflow using a single hard dispenser, sachet, twin-pack pouch, refill set, kit, or other packaging configuration.
[0216] In one embodiment of the invention, the system is configured for baby-care applications. For example, the first wipe may include a wash, cleansing, rash-care, barrier, or soothing composition, and the second wipe may include water, rinse solution, moisturizer, soothing composition, or finishing composition. The system may be used to clean, rinse, soothe, protect, or otherwise treat a baby's skin, diaper area, face, hands, pacifier-adjacent items, changing surfaces, or other baby-care target areas.
[0217] In another embodiment of the invention, the system is configured for sanitizer or hygiene applications. For example, the first wipe may include a sanitizer, antimicrobial composition, soap, surfactant, cleansing agent, or disinfecting composition, and the second wipe may include a rinse solution, moisturizer, soothing composition, residue-removal composition, or finishing composition. The second wipe may reduce residue, reduce dryness, improve skin feel, or complete the sanitizing or cleaning process.
[0218] In another example of the invention, the system is configured for rash-care, skin-care, anti-itch, or hemorrhoid-care applications. For example, the first wipe may include a medicated, soothing, cooling, anti-itch, barrier, rash-care, hemorrhoid-care, or therapeutic composition, and the second wipe may include a rinse, cleansing, soothing, moisturizing, cooling, or finishing composition. The first and second wipes may be selected to apply a treatment composition and then remove excess residue, soothe the area, or provide a follow-up effect.
[0219] In one embodiment of the invention, the system is configured for insect-repellent, camping, outdoor, or travel applications. For example, the first wipe may include an insect-repellent composition, anti-itch composition, sunscreen composition, cleansing composition, deodorizing composition, or outdoor-use formulation, and the second wipe may include water, rinse solution, soothing composition, moisturizer, residue-removal composition, or follow-up composition. The system may allow a user to carry paired wipes in a compact format for use away from home.
[0220] In another embodiment of the invention, the system is configured for cosmetic or personal-care applications. For example, the first wipe may include a makeup-removal composition, nail-polish-removal composition, sunscreen composition, deodorizing composition, exfoliating composition, cleansing composition, or other cosmetic formulation, and the second wipe may include oil, polish, moisturizer, rinse solution, residue-removal composition, pH-adjusting composition, soothing composition, or finishing composition. The second wipe may improve finish, skin feel, appearance, or residue removal after the first wipe is used.
[0221] In another example of the invention, the system is configured for pet-care applications. For example, the first wipe may include a cleaning, deodorizing, medicated, anti-itch, paw-cleaning, coat-cleaning, ear-cleaning, or surface-treatment composition, and the second wipe may include a rinse, soothing, conditioning, drying, deodorizing, or finishing composition. The paired wipes may be used on pet fur, paws, skin, accessories, bedding, carriers, or other pet-related target areas.
[0222] In one embodiment of the invention, the system is configured for surface-cleaning, automotive, industrial, household, cleaning, or care-related applications. For example, the first wipe may include a cleaning, degreasing, disinfecting, solvent, polishing-preparation, surface-treatment, or residue-removal composition, and the second wipe may include water, rinse solution, neutralizing composition, drying composition, polish, protective coating, or finishing composition. The paired wipes may be used on household surfaces, tools, equipment, vehicle interiors, camping gear, work surfaces, or other articles.
[0223] The identification of a particular workflow, formulation type, target area, package configuration, or field of use does not require that each formulation or workflow be commercially available, tested, or used in every embodiment. Rather, the formulations, substrates, package structures, instructions, indicia, and use sequences may be selected according to the intended two-step use case. In some embodiments, a particular formulation may be substituted with another formulation that performs the same or a similar first-step or second-step function.
