Abstract
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates generally to concrete building block, but more specifically to an L-shaped precast concrete building block (also called element or module) to be used as the main structural component in the construction of residential, commercial, storage, multi-purpose shelter buildings and the like. Said L-shaped precast concrete building block is adapted to be joined together by tie-rods (also called tendons) and grout or adhesives. Moreover, said L-shaped precast concrete building block when assembled together with other L-shaped precast concrete building blocks will form the floor, walls and roof of the residential, commercial, storage, multi-purpose shelter buildings and the like without use of conventional building framework such as columns, beams and roof trusses.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Traditional methods in construction involving use of light semi-permanent materials such as wood, plastic, fiber glass, composites, concrete hollow blocks, steel and sheet metal all contribute to inefficiencies because they are labor-intensive, time-consuming and requiring high-maintenance that may all these translate to high costs.
[0003] The present invention for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete blocks aim to address all the above-mentioned problem by at least 50% owing to its simple design but practical and innovative technology.
[0004] Strength and reliability of solid concrete utilized for structural parts of the building such as floor, walls, and roof aim to revolutionize small-to-medium scale building construction in terms of safety, practicality, speed and costs.OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0005] It is therefore the main object of the present invention to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that will solve the problems of the prior arts.
[0006] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block comprising: an L-shaped block body having a longer arm portion and a shorter arm portion wherein both longer arm portion and shorter arm portion are provided with plurality of holes adapted to receive tie rods and further wherein end portions of said longer arm portion and shorter arm portion are also provided with elongated grooves.
[0007] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block wherein said elongated grooves are provided with grout.
[0008] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block wherein said elongated grooves are provided with epoxy.
[0009] Still, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that will eliminate the use of light semi-permanent materials such as wood, plastic, fiber glass, composites, concrete hollow blocks, steel and sheet metal.
[0010] Still, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that will produce work efficiency due to lower labor cost and minimum time requirement during production.
[0011] Still, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that provide quality and truly affordable housing that is decent and long-lasting.
[0012] Still, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that is resistant to catastrophic effects of fire, floods, high winds, rain and snow, earthquakes, rust and termites and other depreciation effects of weather and time.
[0013] Still, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that is simple in design requiring only one generic common-component to build approximately 95% of an entire building.
[0014] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that will not require high-maintenance that may translate to high costs.
[0015] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that is easy to manufacture using locally available materials.
[0016] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that is lightweight, strong, tough, easy to handle and erect.
[0017] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that cheap and practical to use in any construction-site environment, location and terrain.
[0018] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that even an unskilled worker can easily construct by merely tying plurality of said L-Shaped prefabricated concrete blocks together with tie-rods, providing epoxy or grout to both ends of said L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block and apply rendering (plaster) to finish.
[0019] Yet, another object of the present invention is to provide for an L-Shaped prefabricated concrete block that revolutionize small-to-medium scale building construction in terms of safety, practicality, speed and costs.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0020] These and other objects of the present invention for an L-Shaped precast concrete block will become apparent when taken together with the appended drawings wherein:
[0021] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention for an L-Shaped precast concrete block;
[0022] FIG. 2 is another perspective view showing plurality of L-Shaped precast concrete blocks being tied together with tie-rods to form a building structure, and
[0023] FIG. 3 is another perspective view showing a finished FIG. 2 (with plaster).DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0024] Referring now to the appended drawings, there is shown the present invention for an L-Shaped precast concrete block being designated by reference numeral 10. Said L-Shaped precast concrete block 10 comprises of a longer arm portion 11 and a shorter arm portion 12 wherein both longer arm portion 11 and shorter arm portion 12 are provided with plurality of holes 13 adapted to receive tie rods 14. Moreover, end portions 15 of said longer arm portion 11 and shorter arm portion 12 are provided with elongated grooves 16. When said L-Shaped precast concrete block 10 is connected to other L-Shaped precast concrete blocks 10 to form a frame 17 as shown in FIG. 2, said elongated grooves 16 will be provided with either grout or epoxy thereby connecting plurality of L-Shaped precast concrete blocks 10. When said frame 17 are connected to other frames 17 as also shown in FIG. 2, said frames 17 will be connected to each other via tie-rods 14 through plurality of holes 13 disposed on said longer arm portion 11 and shorter arm portion 12. Said L-Shaped precast concrete blocks 10 are arranged alternatingly and clamped together (as shown in FIG. 2) after filling grooves 16 with grout or epoxy which results in a virtual tongue-and-groove style mechanically-keyed joint for shear and torsional loads. It is to be understood that weatherproofing and finishing are to be done through conventional plastering (rendering) on both internal and external surfaces as shown in FIG. 3.
