CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This application claims priority to and the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 63 / 792,033, filed on Apr. 21, 2025, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein for all purposes.TECHNICAL FIELD

[0002] This disclosure relates to hair accessories, and more particularly, to a hair extension system.BACKGROUND

[0003] Hair extensions are used to add length, volume, or aesthetic variety to a user's natural hair. Hair extensions are available in a wide variety of styles, colors, and materials, and may include wefts of natural or synthetic hair coupled to a line, band, or other structure that is configured to be worn on the head of a user. Conventional hair extensions are typically attached to the user's hair or scalp using clips, glue, tape, sew-in methods, or other fasteners that make direct contact with the user's hair or head. Clip-in extensions, for example, use small clips that clamp onto sections of natural hair, while tape-in and glue-in extensions bond directly to the hair shaft using adhesives. Sew-in extensions, also referred to as weaves, involve braiding the natural hair and sewing the extension weft onto the braided base.SUMMARY

[0004] In one implementation, a hair extension system is disclosed. The hair extension system includes a hair extension that includes a first line having a first hair weft. The first line includes a first female connector disposed at or near a first end of the first line, a second female connector disposed at or near an opposing second end of the first line, a third female connector disposed along the first line at a first offset distance from the first female connector, and a fourth female connector disposed along the first line at a second offset distance from the second female connector. The hair extension also includes a second line having a second hair weft. The second line includes a first male connector disposed at a first end of the second line and configured to releasably engage the third female connector, and a second male connector disposed at a second end of the second line and configured to releasably engage the fourth female connector. The hair extension system also includes a securing line that includes a first bead disposed at a first end of the securing line and configured to couple the securing line to the first female connector, and a second bead disposed at an opposing second end of the securing line and configured to couple the securing line to the second female connector. The securing line and the first line define a head opening therebetween configured to receive and cradle a portion of a head of a user.

[0005] In some configurations, the first line may have a first length and the second line may have a second length that is shorter than the first length.

[0006] In some configurations, the hair extension system may be configured to cradle the portion of the head to secure the hair extension system to the head free of clips, glue, or tape connecting the hair extension system to the head or hair of the user.

[0007] In some configurations, the first female connector and the second female connector may each include an eye. The first bead and the second bead may each be crimped about the securing line to couple the securing line to a respective eye of the first female connector or the second female connector.

[0008] In some configurations, the third female connector and the fourth female connector may each include an eye. The first male connector and the second male connector may each include a hook configured to releasably engage a respective eye of the third female connector or the fourth female connector.

[0009] In some configurations, the first offset distance may be substantially equal to the second offset distance.

[0010] In some configurations, the first offset distance may position the third female connector inward from the first female connector along the first line and the second offset distance may position the fourth female connector inward from the second female connector along the first line such that, when the first male connector engages the third female connector and the second male connector engages the fourth female connector, the second line may be layered beneath the first line and the first hair weft and the second hair weft may be vertically offset from one another to define a first gap therebetween.

[0011] In some configurations, the securing line may be a monofilament line. The first bead and the second bead may each be a nano bead having a diameter of approximately 3 millimeters.

[0012] In some configurations, the head opening may define a head gap measured between the securing line and the first line. The head gap may be sized to receive the portion of the head such that the securing line contacts a first region of the head and the first line contacts a second region of the head spaced from the first region to distribute a load of the hair extension system across the portion of the head.

[0013] In some configurations, the hair extension system may further include a third line that includes a third hair weft and that is coupled to the second line or the first line at one or more additional connection points. The third line may be configured to provide additional hair volume.

[0014] In some configurations, the first line may have a first length of approximately 14 inches. The securing line and the first line may cooperate to position the hair extension system rearward of a centerline of the head extending transversely between a first side and a second side of the head when the hair extension system is worn by the user.

[0015] In some configurations, the hair extension system may further include one or more accessories releasably coupled to the first line or the second line at one or more attachment points. The one or more accessories may include at least one of a decorative strand, a crystal strand, a braid, a dreadlock, a tinsel strand, or a sequin strand.

[0016] In some configurations, the hair extension system may further include a headband configured to be worn on the head of the user. The headband may include at least one connector configured to engage at least one of the first female connector or the second female connector of the first line to couple the headband to the hair extension system. The headband may include a silicone backing on an underside of the headband that is configured to contact the head of the user.

[0017] In another implementation, a hair extension system is disclosed. The hair extension system includes a hair extension configured to be worn on a head of a user. The hair extension includes a first line having a first hair weft and a second line having a second hair weft. The second line is releasably coupled to the first line at a first connection point and a second connection point spaced apart from the first connection point along the first line. The hair extension system also includes a securing line coupled to the first line at a first securing line connection point disposed at or near a first end of the first line and at a second securing line connection point disposed at or near an opposing second end of the first line. The securing line and the first line define a head opening therebetween configured to receive and cradle a portion of the head of the user.

[0018] In some configurations, the first connection point may be disposed inward from the first securing line connection point along the first line by a first offset distance and the second connection point may be disposed inward from the second securing line connection point along the first line by a second offset distance that is substantially equal to the first offset distance.

[0019] In some configurations, the securing line may be coupled to the first line at the first securing line connection point via a first bead crimped about the securing line. The securing line may be coupled to the first line at the second securing line connection point via a second bead crimped about the securing line.

[0020] In some configurations, the second line may be releasably coupled to the first line at the first connection point and the second connection point via a respective hook and eye at each of the first connection point and the second connection point.

[0021] In another implementation, a hair extension system is disclosed. The hair extension system includes a hair extension configured to be worn on a head of a user. The hair extension includes at least one line having at least one hair weft coupled thereto. The at least one line has a first end and an opposing second end. The hair extension system also includes a securing line coupled to the at least one line at a first securing line connection point disposed at or near the first end and at a second securing line connection point disposed at or near the opposing second end. The securing line and the at least one line define a head opening therebetween that is configured to receive and cradle a portion of the head of the user such that the hair extension system is secured to the head free of clips, glue, or tape.

[0022] In some configurations, the at least one line may include a first line having a first hair weft and a second line having a second hair weft. The second line may be releasably coupled to the first line at a first connection point and a second connection point spaced apart from the first connection point along the first line. The first hair weft and the second hair weft may be layered relative to one another to collectively hang from the head opening when the hair extension system is worn on the head of the user.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0037] Reference will now be made in greater detail to embodiments, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numerals will be used throughout the drawings and the description to refer to the same or like parts.

[0038] Described herein is a hair extension that is configured to be worn on the head of a user without the use of clips, glue, tape, or other fasteners that make direct contact with the user's hair or head. Conventional hair extensions rely on such attachment methods to secure the extension to the user, which can cause discomfort during wear, damage to the natural hair over time, and may require professional application or removal. Repeated use of such methods can also lead to hair breakage, thinning, or scalp irritation, limiting the suitability of conventional hair extensions for long-term or frequent use.

[0039] The hair extension system described herein addresses these shortcomings by utilizing a loop-based attachment mechanism that cradles the head of the user to secure the hair extension system in place. The hair extension system includes a hair extension and a securing line. The hair extension includes one or more lines having one or more hair wefts coupled thereto. The securing line is coupled to the hair extension and cooperates with the hair extension to define a head opening therebetween that is configured to receive and cradle a portion of the head of the user. The head opening distributes the load of the hair extension system across the head of the user, providing a comfortable and stable fit without requiring any attachment to the user's natural hair.

[0040] The hair extension includes a first line and a second line, each having a hair weft coupled thereto. The first line includes a plurality of connectors that allow the second line to be releasably coupled to the first line at a first connection point and a second connection point. When the second line is coupled to the first line, the second line is layered beneath the first line such that the hair weft of the first line and the hair weft of the second line are vertically offset from one another. This layered configuration provides added hair volume and a natural appearance. The securing line is coupled to the first line at or near each end of the first line, and the securing line and the first line together define the head opening that secures the hair extension system to the head of the user.

[0041] The hair extension system may also be configured for use with one or more accessories, such as decorative strands, crystal strands, braids, dreadlocks, tinsel strands, or sequin strands, that may be releasably coupled to the hair extension at one or more attachment points to provide further customization. Additionally, the hair extension system may be used in conjunction with a headband that is configured to couple to the hair extension to provide additional support and styling options. The hair extension system may also include a third line having a third hair weft that is coupled to the first line or the second line to provide additional hair volume.

[0042] Turning now to the figures, FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of a hair extension system 100. The hair extension system 100 may include a hair extension 102 and a securing line 104. The hair extension 102 may include a first line 106 and a second line 108, each having hair 110 coupled thereto in the form of a hair weft. The securing line 104 may be coupled to the first line 106 and may cooperate with the first line 106 to define a head opening 112 therebetween that is configured to receive and cradle a portion of a head of a user.

[0043] As shown in FIG. 1, the first line 106 and the second line 108 of the hair extension 102 may extend along a width of the hair extension system 100. The second line 108 may be coupled to the first line 106 such that the second line 108 is layered beneath the first line 106 with respect to an elevational direction. The hair 110 of the first line 106 and the hair 110 of the second line 108 may hang downward from the first line 106 and the second line 108, respectively, and may be vertically offset from one another to provide added volume and a natural appearance. The securing line 104 may extend along a top of the hair extension system 100 and may be coupled to the first line 106 at or near each end of the first line 106 such that the securing line 104 and the first line 106 cooperate to define the head opening 112. As such, the head opening 112 may be configured to receive and cradle the portion of the head of the user such that the hair extension system 100 may be secured to the head free of clips, glue, tape, or a combination thereof.

[0044] FIG. 2 illustrates a perspective view of the hair extension 102 of the hair extension system 100 shown in FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 2, the hair extension 102 may include the first line 106 and the second line 108. The first line 106 may include a first weft 214 of the hair 110 coupled thereto and the second line 108 may include a second weft 216 of the hair 110 coupled thereto. The first weft 214 and the second weft 216 may hang downward from the first line 106 and the second line 108, respectively, and may be vertically offset from one another to define a gap therebetween and provide added volume and a natural appearance.

[0045] The first weft 214 and the second weft 216 may each be formed from natural hair, synthetic hair, or a combination of natural and synthetic hair. The hair 110 of the first weft 214 and the second weft 216 may be available in a variety of colors, textures, and lengths to match or complement the natural hair of the user. In some configurations, the first weft 214 and the second weft 216 may each be a machine-sewn weft, a hand-tied weft, a flat weft, a skin weft, or another type of weft.

[0046] The first weft 214 may have a first weft length and the second weft 216 may have a second weft length (e.g., a length of the hair 110 of the first weft 214 and the second weft 216, respectively). In some configurations, the first weft length and the second weft length may be substantially equal to one another, or may differ from one another to provide a layered or graduated appearance. The first weft 214 and the second weft 216 may each be coupled to the first line 106 and the second line 108, respectively, by sewing, bonding, crimping, or any other suitable attachment method.

[0047] As shown in FIG. 2, the second line 108 may be releasably coupled to the first line 106 at a first weft connection point 218 and a second weft connection point 220 spaced apart from the first weft connection point 218 along the first line 106. The first weft connection point 218 may be disposed inward from a first end of the first line 106 along the first line 106 and the second weft connection point 220 may be disposed inward from an opposing second end of the first line 106 along the first line 106. When the second line 108 is coupled to the first line 106 at the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220, the second line 108 may be layered beneath the first line 106 such that the first weft 214 and the second weft 216 are vertically offset from one another.

[0048] The first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220 may each include a male connector and a female connector that are configured to releasably engage one another to couple the second line 108 to the first line 106, or vice versa. For example, the male connector may be a hook and the female connector may be an eye, such that the hook is configured to releasably engage the eye to couple the second line 108 to the first line 106 at the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220. In another example, the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220 may each include a snap, a clasp, a clip, a loop, a button, or any other suitable releasable connector. The male connector and the female connector at each of the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220 may be formed from metal, plastic, nylon, or any other suitable material. In some implementations, the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220 may be configured to allow the user to selectively couple and decouple the second line 108 from the first line 106 to adjust the appearance or volume of the hair extension 102.

[0049] The first line 106 may also include a first securing line connection point 222 disposed at or near the first end of the first line 106 and a second securing line connection point 224 disposed at or near the opposing second end of the first line 106. The first securing line connection point 222 and the second securing line connection point 224 may each be configured to couple the securing line 104 to the first line 106 such that the securing line 104 and the first line 106 cooperate to define the head opening 112 therebetween. As shown in FIG. 2, the first weft connection point 218 may be spaced inward from the first securing line connection point 222 along the first line 106 and the second weft connection point 220 may be spaced inward from the second securing line connection point 224 along the first line 106.

[0050] The first securing line connection point 222 and the second securing line connection point 224 may each include a connector configured to couple the securing line 104 to the first line 106. In some implementations, the first securing line connection point 222 and the second securing line connection point 224 may each include an eye, and the securing line 104 may be coupled to the first line 106 at the first securing line connection point 222 and the second securing line connection point 224 via a bead, such as a nano bead, crimped about the securing line 104 and engaged with a respective eye. In another example, the first securing line connection point 222 and the second securing line connection point 224 may each include a clasp, a loop, a snap, or any other suitable connector configured to couple the securing line 104 to the first line 106. The first securing line connection point 222 and the second securing line connection point 224 may be formed from metal, plastic, nylon, or any other suitable material capable of securely coupling the securing line 104 to the first line 106 while withstanding the load of the hair extension system 100 during wear.

[0051] FIG. 3A is a schematic view of the first line 106 of the hair extension 102. FIG. 3B is a schematic view of the second line 108. FIG. 3C is a schematic view of the hair extension 102 illustrating coupling of the first line 106 and the second line 108. The schematic views shown in FIGS. 3A-3C omit the hair 110 (e.g., the first weft 214 and the second weft 216) for illustrative purposes.

[0052] As shown in FIG. 3A, the first line 106 may include a first female connector 326 disposed at or near a first end of the first line 106 and a second female connector 328 disposed at or near an opposing second end of the first line 106. The first female connector 326 may correspond to the first securing line connection point 222 and the second female connector 328 may correspond to the second securing line connection point 224 such that the securing line 104 may be configured to couple to the first line 106 at the first female connector 326 and the second female connector 328.

[0053] The first line 106 may also include a third female connector 330 disposed along the first line 106 inward from the first female connector 326 by a first offset distance 334 and a fourth female connector 332 disposed along the first line 106 inward from the second female connector 328 by a second offset distance 336. The third female connector 330 may correspond to the first weft connection point 218 and the fourth female connector 332 may correspond to the second weft connection point 220 such that the second line 108 may be configured to releasably couple to the first line 106 at the third female connector 330 and the fourth female connector 332. The first offset distance 334 may be substantially equal to the second offset distance 336 such that the third female connector 330 and the fourth female connector 332 are symmetrically positioned along the first line 106. In some configurations, the first offset distance 334 and the second offset distance 336 may be different. Additionally, as shown in FIG. 3A, the first line 106 may have a first length 338 as measured between the first end and the opposing second end of the first line 106.

[0054] As shown in FIG. 3B, the second line 108 may include a first male connector 342 disposed at a first end of the second line 108 and a second male connector 344 disposed at an opposing second end of the second line 108. As shown in FIG. 3C, the first male connector 342 may be configured to releasably engage the third female connector 330 of the first line 106 at the first weft connection point 218 and the second male connector 344 may be configured to releasably engage the fourth female connector 332 of the first line 106 at the second weft connection point 220.

[0055] The second line 108 may have a second length 346 measured between the first end and the opposing second end of the second line 108. The second length 346 of the second line 108 may be shorter than the first length 338 of the first line 106. The second length 346 of the second line 108 may be substantially equal to the first length 338 of the first line 106. By way of example, the first length 338 and / or the second length 346 may be about 10 inches or more, about 12 inches or more, or about 15 inches or more. The first length 338 and / or the second length 346 may be about 30 inches or less, about 20 inches or less, or about 15 inches or less. For example, the first length 338 and / or the second length 346 may be about 14 inches.

[0056] The first male connector 342 and the second male connector 344 of the second line 108 may each be a hook, a snap, a clasp, or any other suitable connector configured to releasably engage a corresponding female connector of the first line 106. It should also be noted that, while the first line 106 is shown as having the female connectors and the second line 108 is shown as having the male connectors, other configurations may be possible. For example, the first line 106 may include the male connectors and the second line 108 may include the female connectors. Alternatively, the first line 106 and the second line 108 may each include both male connectors and female connectors.

[0057] Moreover, while the first line 106 is shown as having four female connectors, any number of female connectors may be possible. By way of example, the first line 106 may include one or more additional female connectors disposed along the first line 106 between the third female connector 330 and the fourth female connector 332, or between the first female connector 326 and the third female connector 330, or between the second female connector 328 and the fourth female connector 332. The additional female connectors may be configured to receive additional accessories, additional lines having additional hair wefts coupled thereto, or other components of the hair extension system 100. Similarly, the second line 108 may include any number of male connectors disposed at any suitable position along the second line 108 to correspond to the female connectors of the first line 106 and / or provide additional connection points for accessories, additional lines, or other components.

[0058] As shown in FIG. 3C, when the first male connector 342 of the second line 108 may be engaged with the third female connector 330 of the first line 106 at the first weft connection point 218 and the second male connector 344 of the second line 108 may be engaged with the fourth female connector 332 of the first line 106 at the second weft connection point 220, the second line 108 may be coupled to the first line 106 such that the second line 108 may be layered beneath the first line 106. Due to the third female connector 330 and the fourth female connector 332 being positioned inward from the first female connector 326 and the second female connector 328 by the first offset distance 334 and the second offset distance 336, respectively, the second line 108 may bow downward from the first line 106 when coupled thereto to define a first gap 348 between the first line 106 and the second line 108. The first gap 348 may result in the first weft 214 and the second weft 216 being vertically offset from one another when the hair 110 is coupled to the first line 106 and the second line 108, providing added volume and a natural appearance to the hair extension system 100.

[0059] FIG. 4 is a close-up view of an example of a male connector 450 and a female connector 452 of the hair extension system 100 of FIG. 1. The male connector 450 may be an example of any one of the male connectors of the hair extension system 100 (e.g., the first male connector 342 or the second male connector 344 of the second line 108). Similarly, the female connector 452 may be an example of any one of the female connectors of the hair extension system 100 (e.g., the first female connector 326, the second female connector 328, the third female connector 330, or the fourth female connector 332 of the first line 106).

[0060] As shown in FIG. 4, the male connector 450 may include a hook 454 and the female connector 452 may include an eye 456. The hook 454 may be configured to releasably engage the eye 456 at a connection point 458 to couple the male connector 450 to the female connector 452. In some implementations, the hook 454 may be a J-shaped or curved member that is configured to pass through and engage the eye 456 such that the male connector 450 and the female connector 452 are releasably secured to one another at the connection point 458. The hook 454 and the eye 456 may be configured such that the user may selectively couple and decouple the male connector 450 from the female connector 452 to adjust the configuration of the hair extension system 100.

[0061] The hook 454 of the male connector 450 and the eye 456 of the female connector 452 may each be formed from metal, plastic, nylon, or any other suitable material capable of withstanding the load of the hair extension system 100 during wear. For example, the hook 454 and the eye 456 may be formed from a corrosion-resistant material, such as stainless steel or coated metal, to prevent degradation of the male connector 450 and the female connector 452 over time. The hook 454 and the eye 456 may be sized and shaped to facilitate easy engagement and disengagement by the user while maintaining a secure connection between the male connector 450 and the female connector 452 during wear of the hair extension system 100.

[0062] The male connector 450 and the female connector 452 may be configured such that engagement of the hook 454 with the eye 456 at the connection point 458 secures the second line 108 to the first line 106. That is, the connection point 458 may be representative of any one of the connection points of the hair extension system 100, such as but not limited to, the first weft connection point 218, the second weft connection point 220, the first securing line connection point 222, the second securing line connection point 224, or another connection point of the hair extension system 100.

[0063] Additionally, while the male connector 450 is shown as a hook 454 and the female connector 452 is shown as an eye 456, other types of releasable connectors may be used in place of the hook 454 and the eye 456, such as a snap, a clasp, a clip, a loop, a button, or any other suitable releasable connector configured to releasably couple the male connector 450 to the female connector 452.

[0064] FIG. 5A is a schematic view of the securing line 104 of the hair extension system 100. FIG. 5B is a top-down schematic view illustrating the hair extension system 100 secured on a head 560 (shown as a dashed-line circle) of a user.

[0065] As shown in FIG. 5A, the securing line 104 may include a first bead 562 disposed at a first end of the securing line 104 and a second bead 564 disposed at an opposing second end of the securing line 104. The first bead 562 may be configured to couple the securing line 104 to the first female connector 326 of the first line 106 at the first securing line connection point 222 and the second bead 564 may be configured to couple the securing line 104 to the second female connector 328 of the first line 106 at the second securing line connection point 224.

[0066] The first bead 562 and the second bead 564 may be crimped about the securing line 104 to couple the securing line 104 to a respective one of the first female connector 326 or second female connector 328. The first bead 562 and the second bead 564 may be any type of bead, such as a nano bead having a diameter of approximately 3 millimeters. Additionally, though the securing line 104 is shown as having the first bead 562 and the second bead 564, the securing line 104 may include any number of beads or other connectors (e.g., hook and eye connectors or other releasable connectors, securing means other than beads, etc.) to facilitate connection of the securing line 104 to the first line 106 and / or the second line 108. Moreover, in some configurations, the beads may be located on the first line 106 and / or the second line 108 to connect to one or more female or male connectors of the securing line 104.

[0067] As shown in FIG. 5A, the securing line 104 may have a third length 566 as measured between the first end and the opposing second end of the securing line 104 (e.g., between the first bead 562 and the second bead 564). The third length 566 may be substantially equal to or different from the first length 338 of the first line 106 and / or the second length 346 of the second line 108.

[0068] The securing line 104 may be one or more different types of material. For example, the securing line 104 may be a monofilament line, which may provide a lightweight, transparent, and flexible structure that is configured to conform to the shape of the head 560 of the user during wear. As such, when worn by the user, the securing line 104 may be considered an “invisible line” not readily seen when secured to the head 560 of the user. That is, the monofilament construction of the securing line 104 may also allow the securing line 104 to blend with the natural hair of the user, providing a discreet and natural appearance when the hair extension system 100 is worn on the head 560.

[0069] In some configurations, the securing line 104 may be formed from nylon, which may provide added durability and flexibility while remaining lightweight and resistant to stretching or deformation over time. In some configurations, the securing line 104 may be formed from fishing line, braided line, elastic cord, or another flexible and durable material capable of supporting the load of the hair extension system 100 during wear. As such, the material of the securing line 104 may be selected based on the weight of the hair extension 102, the desired level of flexibility or rigidity of the securing line 104, the comfort of the user during wear, or a combination thereof. The securing line 104 may also be transparent or may be available in a variety of colors to match or complement the natural hair color of the user, thereby further concealing the securing line 104 when the hair extension system 100 is worn on the head 560.

[0070] As shown in FIG. 5B, when the hair extension system 100 is worn on the head 560 of the user, the securing line 104 and the first line 106 cooperate to define the head opening 112 therebetween that is configured to receive and cradle a portion of the head 560 of the user. The head opening 112 defines a head gap 568 measured between the securing line 104 and the first line 106 in a direction substantially perpendicular to a centerline 570 of the head 560. The head gap 568 may be considered the greatest distance between the securing line 104 and the first line 106. The head gap 568 may be sized to receive the portion of the head 560 such that the securing line 104 contacts a first region of the head 560 and the first line 106 contacts a second region of the head 560 spaced from the first region to distribute a load of the hair extension system 100 across the portion of the head 560 of the user.

[0071] As shown in FIG. 5B, the head 560 has a front 572, a back 574, a first side 576, and a second side 578. The centerline 570 extends transversely between the first side 576 and the second side 578 of the head 560. When the hair extension system 100 is worn on the head 560, the securing line 104 and the first line 106 may cooperate to position the hair extension system 100 rearward of the centerline 570 such that the hair extension 102 hangs downward from the back 574 of the head 560. The first securing line connection point 222 and the first weft connection point 218 may be located on the first side 576 of the head 560 and the second securing line connection point 224 and the second weft connection point 220 may be located on the second side 578 of the head 560 when the hair extension system 100 is worn on the head 560 of the user.

[0072] As further shown in FIG. 5B, the securing line 104 may arc upward and rearward over the head 560 from the first securing line connection point 222 to the second securing line connection point 224 such that the securing line 104 contacts the first region of the head 560. The first line 106 and the second line 108 may extend along the back 574 of the head 560 from the first weft connection point 218 to the second weft connection point 220 such that the first line 106 contacts the second region of the head 560. As such, the head opening 112 defined between the securing line 104 and the first line 106 may receive and cradle the portion of the head 560 of the user to secure the hair extension system 100 to the head 560 free of clips, glue, tape, or a combination thereof.

[0073] FIG. 6A illustrates a top view of an example of a band 680 of the hair extension system 100. FIG. 6B illustrates a bottom view of the band 680 shown in FIG. 6A. As shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, the band 680 may extend between a top edge 682 and a bottom edge 684 of the band 680. The band 680 may be configured to be worn on the head 560 of the user and may be configured to engage the hair extension system 100 to provide additional support and styling options.

[0074] By way of example, the band 680 may be a headband configured to be worn on the head 560 of the user such that the top edge 682 of the band 680 is positioned toward a top of the head 560 and the bottom edge 684 of the band 680 is positioned toward the back 574 or the front 572 of the head 560. The band 680 may be formed from any suitable material, such as fabric, elastic, plastic, rubber, or a combination thereof, and may be available in a variety of colors, patterns, and sizes to match or complement the natural hair of the user or the hair extension 102.

[0075] As shown in FIG. 6A, the band 680 may include a top side 686 and one or more primary hooks, such as the primary hooks 688, which may be disposed on the top side 686 of the band 680. The primary hooks 688 may be disposed at or near each end of the band 680 and may be configured to engage at least one connector of one or more of the first line 106, the second line 108, or the securing line 104 (e.g., the first female connector 326 or the second female connector 328 of the first line 106) to couple the band 680 to the hair extension system 100.

[0076] The primary hooks 688 may be configured to releasably engage a respective connector of the first line 106, the second line 108, the securing line 104 or a combination thereof, such as the hook 454 described with respect to FIG. 4. As such, the band 680 may be releasably coupled to the hair extension system 100 via the primary hooks 688 to allow the user to selectively attach and detach the band 680 from the hair extension system 100.

[0077] The band 680 may also include one or more secondary hooks, such as the secondary hooks 690, which may be disposed along the bottom edge 684 of the band 680. As shown in FIG. 6A, the secondary hooks 690 may be spaced apart from one another along the bottom edge 684 of the band 680 and may be configured to engage one or more additional connectors of the hair extension system 100 (e.g., the third female connector 330, the fourth female connector 332, or another connector of the first line 106 or the second line 108).

[0078] In some configurations, the secondary hooks 690 may be configured to engage connectors of an additional accessory, such as a decorative strand, a crystal strand, a braid, a dreadlock, a tinsel strand, or a sequin strand, to couple the additional accessory to the band 680. The secondary hooks 690 may each be a hook similar to the hook 454 described with respect to FIG. 4 or may be any other suitable connector configured to releasably engage a corresponding connector of the hair extension system 100 and / or an accessory.

[0079] As shown in FIG. 6B, the band 680 may include an underside 692 and a backing strip 694 disposed along the underside 692 of the band 680. The backing strip 694 may extend along at least a portion of the underside 692 of the band 680 between the top edge 682 and the bottom edge 684 and at least a portion of the band 680 circumferentially around the band 680 (only a segment of the band 680 is shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B).

[0080] The backing strip 694 may be a silicone backing configured to contact the head 560 of the user when the band 680 is worn on the head 560. The backing strip 694 may be configured to provide friction between the band 680 and the head 560 of the user to prevent the band 680 from slipping or shifting during wear. The backing strip 694 may also be formed from rubber, foam, or any other suitable material configured to provide friction and comfort between the band 680 and the head 560 of the user during wear. Additionally, in some configurations, the backing strip 694 may extend along substantially all of the underside 692 of the band 680 to maximize contact between the band 680 and the head 560 of the user and further prevent slipping or shifting of the band 680 during wear.

[0081] FIG. 7 is another schematic view of the hair extension 102 to illustrate coupling of one or more accessories, such as the accessories 796, to the hair extension 102. As shown in FIG. 7, the hair extension 102 may include the first line 106 and the second line 108 coupled together at the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220 via the first male connector 342 and the second male connector 344, respectively. Similar to other schematic views herein, the schematic view of FIG. 7 omits the hair 110 (e.g., the first weft 214 and the second weft 216) for illustrative purposes.

[0082] As shown in FIG. 7, the hair extension 102 may include one or more attachment points, such as the attachment points 798, which may be disposed along one or more of the first line 106 or the second line 108. The attachment points 798 may be configured to receive the accessories 796 such that the accessories 796 are releasably coupled to the hair extension 102 at the attachment points 798. In some implementations, the attachment points 798 may be disposed along the first line 106 between the first female connector 326 and the third female connector 330, between the third female connector 330 and the fourth female connector 332, or between the fourth female connector 332 and the second female connector 328. Additionally, the attachment points 798 may be disposed along the second line 108 between the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220. The attachment points 798 may be a female connector, such as the eye 456 described with respect to FIG. 4, or any other suitable connector configured to releasably receive a corresponding connector of the accessories 796. In some configurations, the attachment points 798 may be or may include a male connector, such as the hook 454 described with respect to FIG. 4.

[0083] As shown in FIG. 7, the accessories 796 may include one or more of a decorative strand, a crystal strand, a braid, a dreadlock, a tinsel strand, a sequin strand, or any other suitable accessory configured to be releasably coupled to the hair extension 102 at one or more of the attachment points 798. The accessories 796 may be coupled to the attachment points 798 via a hook, a snap, a clasp, a loop, or any other suitable connector configured to releasably engage the attachment points 798. The accessories 796 may hang downward from the attachment points 798 along with the hair 110 of the first weft 214 and the second weft 216 to provide additional styling variety, decorative effect, or volume to the hair extension system 100. The accessories 796 may be available in a variety of colors, lengths, textures, and styles to match or complement the natural hair of the user or the hair 110 of the hair extension 102.

[0084] The accessories 796 may be releasably coupled to the attachment points 798 such that the user may selectively attach and detach the accessories 796 from the hair extension 102 to adjust the styling or appearance of the hair extension system 100. The number, type, and positioning of the accessories 796 along the attachment points 798 of the first line 106 and the second line 108 may be varied by the user to achieve a desired aesthetic effect. In some implementations, the accessories 796 may be coupled to the attachment points 798 of both the first line 106 and the second line 108 simultaneously to provide a layered or multi-dimensional decorative effect when the hair extension system 100 is worn on the head 560 of the user. Similarly, in some configurations, the accessories 796 may also be coupled to the securing line 104 of the hair extension system 100.

[0085] FIG. 8 is another schematic view of the hair extension system 100 illustrating coupling of a third line 800 to the hair extension system 100. As shown in FIG. 8, the hair extension system 100 may include the securing line 104, the hair extension 102, and the head opening 112 defined between the securing line 104 and the first line 106. The third line 800 may be coupled to the hair extension 102 at one or more additional connection points, such as the additional connection points 802, which may be disposed along one or more of the first line 106 or the second line 108.

[0086] By way of example, the additional connection points 802 may be disposed along the second line 108 between the first weft connection point 218 and the second weft connection point 220 such that the third line 800 is layered beneath the second line 108 when coupled to the hair extension 102. In another example, the additional connection points 802 may be disposed along the first line 106 to couple the third line 800 directly to the first line 106.

[0087] The third line 800 may include a third hair weft coupled thereto that is configured to provide additional hair volume to the hair extension system 100. Similar to the first weft 214 and the second weft 216, the third hair weft of the third line 800 may hang downward from the third line 800 when the third line 800 is coupled to the hair extension 102 at the additional connection points 802. The third line 800 may be releasably coupled to the hair extension 102 at the additional connection points 802 such that the user may selectively attach and detach the third line 800 from the hair extension 102 to adjust the volume or appearance of the hair extension system 100. For example, the additional connection points 802 may include a male connector and a female connector, such as the hook 454 and the eye 456 described with respect to FIG. 4, configured to releasably engage one another to couple the third line 800 to the hair extension 102.

[0088] When the third line 800 is coupled to the hair extension 102 at the additional connection points 802, the third line 800 may be layered beneath the second line 108 with respect to an elevational direction such that the third hair weft of the third line 800 is vertically offset from the first weft 214 and the second weft 216. As such, the first weft 214, the second weft 216, and the third hair weft of the third line 800 may collectively hang downward from the hair extension 102 to provide a layered appearance and additional volume to the hair extension system 100 when worn on the head 560 of the user.

[0089] The third line 800 may have a third line length that is substantially equal to or shorter than the first length 338 of the first line 106 and / or the second length 346 of the second line 108 such that the third line 800 bows downward from the additional connection points 802 to define a second gap between the second line 108 and the third line 800, similar to the first gap 348 defined between the first line 106 and the second line 108.

[0090] The third line 800 may be formed from the same material as the first line 106 and / or the second line 108, or may be formed from a different material. Similarly, the third hair weft of the third line 800 may be formed from natural hair, synthetic hair, or a combination thereof, and may be available in a variety of colors, textures, and lengths to match or complement the natural hair of the user or the hair 110 of the first weft 214 and the second weft 216. It should be noted that additional lines beyond the third line 800 may be coupled to the hair extension 102 at one or more additional connection points to further increase the volume and layered appearance of the hair extension system 100 (e.g., a fourth line, a fifth line, a sixth line, etc.)

[0091] FIG. 9 is a schematic view of another example of a hair extension 902 for a hair extension system, such as the hair extension system 100 shown in FIGS. 1-8. The hair extension 102 may be similar to the hair extension 102 of the hair extension system 100. For example, the 902 / / may include a first line 906 and a second line 908.

[0092] As discussed above, the first line 106 of the hair extension 102 may include more than one connector, such as the first female connector 326, the second female connector 328, the third female connector 330, and the fourth female connector 332. Conversely, the second line 108 of the hair extension 102 may include a pair of connectors – the first male connector 342 and the second male connector 344, which may be configured couple (e.g., connect) to a respective one of the female connectors of the first line 106 (e.g., the third female connector 330 and the fourth female connector 332. As such, the connection scheme (i.e., the connector configuration) of the first line 106 and the second line 108 may be dissimilar.

[0093] In some configurations, such as the hair extension 902 shown in FIG. 9, the first line 906 and the second line 908 may include substantially the same connection scheme. By way of example the first line 906 and the second line 908 may each be similar to the first line 106 of the hair extension 102. For example, the first line 906 and the second line 908 each include a first connector 910, a second connector 912, a third connector 914, and a fourth connector 916. As such, the first line 906 and the second line 908 may be substantially similar or identical to one another to thereby eliminate additional tooling and components required to assembly the hair extension system.

[0094] The connectors of the first line 906 and the second line 908 may be any of the connectors described herein, such as any male and / or female connector that may facilitate connection between the first line 906 and the second line 908. For example, as shown in FIG. 9, the first connector 910 of the second line 908 may be configured to removably couple to the third connector 914 of the first line 906 to form a first weft connection point 918. Similarly, the second connector 912 of the second line 908 may be configured to removably couple to the fourth connector 916 of the first line 906 to form a second weft connection point 920. As such, connection between first line 906 and the second line 908 may be similar to connection between the first line 106 and the second line 108 of the hair extension 102.

[0095] It should be noted that the connectors of the second line 908 may be adapted to connect to any one of the connectors of the first line 906. For example, the first connector 910 of the second line 908 may be connected to the first connector 910 of the first line 906 or the third connector 914 of the second line 908 may be connected to the third connector 914 of the first line 906. As such, it may be gleaned from the configuration of the hair extension 902 shown in FIG. 9 that any number of connection configurations may be possible due to the first line 906 and the second line 908 having a substantially similar or identical connector configuration.

[0096] Moreover, it should be noted that the hair extension 902 may be adapted connection within a hair extension system similar to the hair extension system 100 of FIGS. 1-8. For example, the first line 906 and / or the second line 908, which may each include a weft of hair as discussed herein, may be connectable to a securing line that is similar to the securing line 104 of the hair extension system 100 to thereby secure the hair extension system to the head of a user.Illustrative Embodiments

[0117] While the disclosure has been described in connection with certain embodiments, it is to be understood that the disclosure is not to be limited to the disclosed embodiments but, on the contrary, is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the scope of the appended claims, which scope is to be accorded the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent structures as is permitted under the law.

[0118] Persons skilled in the art will understand that the various embodiments of the present disclosure, as shown in the accompanying figures, constitute non-limiting examples, and that additional components and features may be added to any of the embodiments discussed hereinabove without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. Additionally, persons skilled in the art will understand that the elements and features shown or described in connection with one embodiment may be combined with those of another embodiment without departing from the scope of the present disclosure to achieve any desired result and will appreciate further features and advantages of the presently disclosed subject matter based on the description provided. Variations, combinations, and / or modifications to any of the embodiments and / or features of the embodiments described herein that are within the abilities of a person having ordinary skill in the art are also within the scope of the present disclosure, as are alternative embodiments that may result from combining, integrating, and / or omitting features from any of the disclosed embodiments.

[0119] Use of the term “optionally” with respect to any element of a claim means that the element may be included or omitted, with both alternatives being within the scope of the claim. Additionally, use of broader terms such as “comprises,”“includes,” and “having” should be understood to provide support for narrower terms such as “consisting of,”“consisting essentially of,” and “comprised substantially of.” Accordingly, the scope of protection is not limited by the description set out above, but is defined by the claims that follow, and includes all equivalents of the subject matter of the claims.

[0120] In the preceding description, reference may be made to the spatial relationship between the various structures illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and to the spatial orientation of the structures. However, as will be recognized by those skilled in the art after a complete reading of this disclosure, the structures described herein may be positioned and oriented in any manner suitable for their intended purpose. Thus, the use of terms such as “above,”“below,”“upper,”“lower,”“inner,”“outer,”“left,”“right,”“upward,”“downward,”“inward,”“outward,”“horizontal,”“vertical,” etc., should be understood to describe a relative relationship between the structures and / or a spatial orientation of the structures. Those skilled in the art will also recognize that the use of such terms may be provided in the context of the illustrations provided by the corresponding figure(s).

[0121] Additionally, terms such as “approximately,”“generally,”“substantially,” and the like should be understood to allow for variations in any numerical range or concept with which they are associated and encompass variations on the order of 25% (e.g., to allow for manufacturing tolerances and / or deviations in design). For example, the term “generally parallel” should be understood as referring to configurations in which the pertinent components are oriented so as to define an angle therebetween that is equal to 180°± 25% (e.g., an angle that lies within the range of (approximately) 135° to (approximately) 225°). The term “generally parallel” should thus be understood as referring to encompass configurations in which the pertinent components are arranged in parallel relation.

[0122] Although terms such as “first,”“second,”“third,” etc., may be used herein to describe various operations, elements, components, regions, and / or sections, these operations, elements, components, regions, and / or sections should not be limited by the use of these terms in that these terms are used to distinguish one operation, element, component, region, or section from another. Thus, unless expressly stated otherwise, a first operation, element, component, region, or section could be termed a second operation, element, component, region, or section without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0123] Each and every claim is incorporated as further disclosure into the specification and represents embodiments of the present disclosure. Also, the phrases “at least one of A, B, and C” and “A and / or B and / or C” should each be interpreted to include only A, only B, only C, or any combination of A, B, and C.

[0124] As used herein, the terminology “example,”“the embodiment,”“implementation,”“aspect,”“feature,” or “element” indicates serving as an example, instance, or illustration. Unless expressly indicated, any example, embodiment, implementation, aspect, feature, or element is independent of each other example, embodiment, implementation, aspect, feature, or element and may be used in combination with any other example, embodiment, implementation, aspect, feature, or element.

[0125] As used herein, the terminology “or” is intended to mean an inclusive “or” rather than an exclusive “or.” That is, unless specified otherwise, or clear from context, “X includes A or B” is intended to indicate any of the natural inclusive permutations. That is, if X includes A; X includes B; or X includes both A and B, then “X includes A or B” is satisfied under any of the foregoing instances. In addition, the articles “a” and “an” as used in this application and the appended claims should generally be construed to mean “one or more” unless specified otherwise or clear from the context to be directed to a singular form.

[0126] As used herein, unless explicitly stated otherwise, any term specified in the singular may include its plural version. For example, “a computer that stores data and runs software,” may include a single computer that stores data and runs software or two computers – a first computer that stores data and a second computer that runs software. Also, “a computer that stores data and runs software,” may include multiple computers that together store data and run software. At least one of the multiple computers stores data, and at least one of the multiple computers runs software.

[0127] Further, for simplicity of explanation, although the figures and descriptions herein may include sequences or series of steps or stages, elements of the methods disclosed herein may occur in various orders or concurrently. Additionally, elements of the methods disclosed herein may occur with other elements not explicitly presented and described herein. Furthermore, not all elements of the methods described herein may be required to implement a method in accordance with this disclosure and claims. Although aspects, features, and elements are described herein in particular combinations, each aspect, feature, or element may be used independently or in various combinations with or without other aspects, features, and elements.

[0128] Further, the figures and descriptions provided herein may be simplified to illustrate aspects of the described embodiments that are relevant for a clear understanding of the herein disclosed processes, machines, and / or manufactures, while eliminating for the purpose of clarity other aspects that may be found in typical similar devices, systems, and methods. Those of ordinary skill may thus recognize that other elements and / or steps may be desirable or necessary to implement the devices, systems, and methods described herein. However, because such elements and steps do not facilitate a better understanding of the disclosed embodiments, a discussion of such elements and steps may not be provided herein. However, the present disclosure is deemed to inherently include all such elements, variations, and modifications to the described aspects that would be known to those of ordinary skill in the pertinent art in light of the discussion herein.
