Abstract
Description
[0001] Genus and species: Dianthus sp.
[0002] Variety denomination: ‘KLEDG20460’.BACKGROUND
[0003] The present invention comprises a new and distinct variety of Dianthus, botanically known as Dianthus sp., and hereinafter referred to by the variety name ‘KLEDG20460’. ‘KLEDG20460’ originated from a whole plant mutation from the Dianthus parent ‘KLEDG12163’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 24,707) in June 2018 in The Netherlands.
[0004] In September 2018, ‘KLEDG20460’ was first vegetatively propagated by vegetative stem cuttings in Stuttgart Germany, and subsequently in Latina, Italy. ‘KLEDG20460’ was found to reproduce true to type in successive generations of asexual propagation in Stuttgart, Germany and Latina, Italy via vegetative stem cuttings.SUMMARY
[0005] The following are the most outstanding and distinguishing characteristics of ‘KLEDG20460’ when grown under normal horticultural practices in Stuttgart, Germany.
[0006] 1. Double, pink flowers with purple centers; and
[0007] 2. Very early flowering.DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPH
[0008] This new Dianthus plant is illustrated by the accompanying photograph which shows an overall view a whole plant of ‘KLEDG20460’ showing foliage, buds, and flowers.
[0009] The photo is of a 30-week-old plant taken in May 2019 in a greenhouse in Stuttgart, Germany. The colors shown are as true as can be reasonably obtained by conventional photographic procedures.DESCRIPTION OF ‘KLEDG20460’
[0010] The following detailed descriptions set forth the distinctive characteristics of ‘KLEDG20460’. The data which define these characteristics were collected from asexual reproductions carried out in Stuttgart, Germany. Data was collected in May 2019 on 7-month old plants grown in a plastic greenhouse. Color references are to The R.H.S. Colour Chart of The Royal Horticultural Society of London (R.H.S.), 5th edition (2007).
