Description
The present invention relates to a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) type cannabinoid compound for use as a medicament. The THC type cannabinoid is an enantiomer of (-)-trans-tetrahydrocannabinol, a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in cannabis plant varieties cultivated to produce THC as the dominant cannabinoid. The particular (+)-trans-tetrahydrocannabinol enantiomer has been found to have properties that differ from those of naturally occurring (-)-trans-THC. The cannabinoid (+)-trans-THC has been found to occur in low concentrations in certain varieties of cannabis plants. Furthermore, this cannabinoid can be produced synthetically.
