Description

In one embodiment, a termination arrangement for an overhead electric cable is described. The termination arrangement comprises a gripping element configured to grasp a reinforcing member of an overhead electric cable and a connector operatively attached to the gripping element. The connector comprises a connector body and a connector body orifice extending longitudinally from a first opening at a distal end of the connector body to a proximal end of the connector body. IN ANOTHER EMBODIMENT, A METHOD FOR TERMINATING AN OVERHEAD ELECTRICAL CABLE IS DESCRIBED, COMPRISING A CENTRAL REINFORCING ELEMENT AND A PLURALITY OF CONDUCTING WIRES WRAPPED AROUND THE REINFORCING ELEMENT.The method includes the steps of separating an end portion of the reinforcing member from the conductor strands, inserting the end portion of the reinforcing member into a termination arrangement, the termination arrangement comprising a connector having a connector body and a connector body hole, wherein the step of inserting the reinforcing member includes placing the end portion of the reinforcing member at least partially into the hole of the overhead electrical connector body through a termination arrangement where the overhead electrical cable has a reinforcing member comprising question marks and a PLURALITY OF CONDUCTIVE WIRES WRAPPED AROUND THE REINFORCING ELEMENT.THE METHOD INCLUDES THE STEPS OF SEPARATING AN END SEGMENT OF THE REINFORCING MEMBER FROM THE CONDUCTING WIRES, OPERATIONALLY SECURING A TERMINATION ARRANGEMENT TO THE OVERHEAD ELECTRICAL CABLE, WHEREIN THE TERMINATION ARRANGEMENT INCLUDES A GRIPPING ELEMENT CONFIGURED TO ATTACH THE REINFORCING MEMBER AND A CONNECTOR OPENING OPERATIONALLY CONNECTED TO THE GRIPPING ELEMENT, THE CONNECTOR COMPRISING A CONNECTOR BODY AND A CONNECTOR BODY OPENING EXTENDING LONGITUDINALLY FROM A FIRST OPENING AT A PROXIMAL END OF THE CONNECTOR BODY TO A DISTAL END OF THE CONNECTOR BODY. The step of operationally securing the termination arrangement to the overhead power cable includes securing a first portion of the reinforcing member's end segment with the gripping element and placing a second portion of the reinforcing member's end segment into the connector body hole.The interrogation of the reinforcing element can be carried out by operationally linking (for example, by directly or indirectly contacting) an interrogation device to the end of the reinforcing element. During the interrogation, the reinforcing member may be entirely disposed within the termination arrangement or may extend beyond the termination arrangement.
