Description

The invention provides a method for forming a tissue-targeting thorium complex, wherein said method comprises: A) forming an octadentate chelating agent comprising four hydroxypyridinone (HOPO) portions substituted at the N position with a C1-C3 alkyl group, and a coupling portion terminating in a carboxylic acid group; B) coupling said octadentate chelating agent to at least one tissue-targeting peptide or protein comprising at least one amine portion by means of at least one amide coupling reagent to thereby generate a tissue-targeting chelating agent; YC) CONTACT SAID TISSUE-TARGETED CHELATING AGENT WITH AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION COMPRISING AN ION OF AT LEAST ONE ALPHA-EMITTING THORIUM ISOTOPE.A METHOD FOR TREATING A NEOPLASTIC OR HYPERPLASTIC DISEASE COMPRISING THE ADMINISTRATION OF SAID TISSUE-TARGETED THORIUM COMPLEX, AND THE COMPLEX AND CORRESPONDING PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS ARE ALSO PROVIDED.
