Abstract

The invention proposes methods, devices, and computer-readable, invariant storage devices for representing the space of interest of an audio scene. The device comprises a processing system that decodes audio scene data for an audio scene. The audio scene data consists of (i) audio content for multiple items representing the audio scene and (ii) a first syntax element indicating the type of the subset of items. The subset of items represents the space of interest of the audio scene. The processing system determines the portion of audio content for the subset of items based on the type of the subset of items indicated in the first syntax element. The processing system presents the determined portion of audio content.
