Abstract

The invention relates to a method for decoding a 360-degree image comprising the following steps: capturing the bit stream obtained by encoding the 360-degree image; generating a predictive image by referencing the syntactic information obtained from the captured bit stream; combining the generated predictive image with the residual image obtained by dequantization and inverse transformation of the bit stream, to obtain the decoded image; and restructuring the decoded image into a 360-degree image in projection format, wherein the predictive image generation step includes the following steps; The process involves expanding the reference image by restructuring the bitstream; and generating a prediction image by referencing the expanded reference image created by image expansion.
