Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a rendering machine that combines graphic / video content using a graphics processing unit (GPU). The machine can configure the display's graphics processor to perform multiple rendering passes for a single frame of a scene displayed on the display. Additionally, the device can control the graphics processor to perform the first of several rendering attempts to create the first rendering target, which is stored in the GPU's on-chip graphics memory or the display's system memory. The device can also control the graphics processor to perform the second rendering attempt to create a second rendering target, which is stored instead in the display's system memory or the GPU's on-chip graphics memory.
