Abstract

The invention relates to an acoustic quantizer, an acoustic dequantizer, and related methods. The audio quantizer set for quantizing multiple audio information items includes: the first-stage vector quantizer (14 ụ 143) for quantizing multiple audio information items to determine the first-stage vector quantization result and multiple intermediate quantized items corresponding to the first-stage vector quantization result; the remaining item determiner (142) to calculate the remaining items from multiple intermediate quantized items and multiple audio information items; and second-stage vector quantizer (145) to quantize the remaining items to obtain the second-stage vector quantizer result, where the first-stage vector quantizer result and the second-stage vector quantizer result are quantized representations of the audio information items.
