Abstract

The invention relates to photovoltaic devices such as solar cells, hybrid solar-battery devices, and other devices. Such photovoltaic devices may include an active layer (4550) arranged between two electrodes (4502, 4507). The active layer may have perovskite material and other materials such as mesoporous materials, separators (4503, 4503), thin-coated separators, and mixtures thereof. The perovskite material may be a photoactive material (4505). Perovskite materials can be arranged between two or more materials in photovoltaic devices (4500). The inclusion of these materials in various arrangements within the active layer of the photovoltaic device can improve the device's performance. Other materials can be included to further improve the device's performance, for example, supplementary perovskites, and supplementary separation layers.
