Abstract

The invention relates to a method (1200) for decoding the transformation block in a picture frame from a bit stream. The method includes steps for decoding the binary, single-reduced binary from a bit stream, single-reduced binary being used for horizontal and vertical transformation of the transformation block of the picture frame. Subsequently, the method for determining horizontal and vertical transformation types based on binary reduction is decoded, and the transformation block in the image frame is decoded by applying the determined horizontal and vertical transformation types to the image transformation block.
