Abstract

The invention relates to the protection of security documents, such as banknotes and identification documents, against counterfeiting and unauthorized copying. Specifically, the invention proposes security documents and decorative articles comprising one or more optical effect layers (OELs) and methods for producing OELs, which consist of magnetically or imprecisely magnetized pigment particles of a shape magnetically oriented in a coating that is at least partially corroded (x40).
