Electronic devices, methods of operating display units, and methods of color compensation for display units

Abstract

Color shading refers to electronic devices, methods (300) to compensate colors based on virtual chromatic coordinate points and related display devices. Electronic devices include: a display unit (100) consisting of an array of pixel points and a control circuit (130) which is electrically connected to the display unit (100). The pixels in the array consist of multiple first-order subpixels defining the first color region on the chromatic plane (400, 500), multiple second-order subpixels defining the second color region on the chromatic plane (400, 500), and multiple third-order subpixels defining the third color region on the chromatic plane (400, 500). The control circuit (130) is configured to receive the input image signal and generate a control signal for the display (100) to operate each pixel of the display (100) to output light in the virtual color gamut. The virtual color gamut of the display (100) is among the first, second and third color areas on the tonal plane (400, 500) and does not overlap any of the first, second or third color areas.
