Abstract

The Trichoderma marine fungus is deficient in erythritol and the production of this targeted substance utilizes this Trichoderma marine fungus. The marine Trichoderma fungus capable of utilizing erythritol is reduced or eliminated, in which the expression of at least one polypeptide selected from the following groups (A) to (D) is reduced or eliminated: (A) polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ 1D NO: 2 or an amino acid sequence with at least 90% homogeneity to it; (B) polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ 1D NO: 4 or an amino acid sequence with at least 90% homogeneity to it; (C) a polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ 119 NO: 6 or an amino acid sequence with at least 90% similarity to it; and (D) a polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ LD NO: 8 or an amino acid sequence with at least 90% similarity to it, and a gene encoding the target substance or enzyme involved in its synthesis and a chromophore-inducing initiation sequence linked at the front of this gene are introduced into the mutant Trichoderma fungus.
