Abstract

The invention proposes a wireless transceiver unit (WTRU) capable of establishing a multi-access protocol data set (PDU) in accordance with the examples described in the description. The WTRU can establish a new packet data network (PDN) connection or identify a suitable existing PDN connection in the enhanced packet core (EPC), establish an MA-PDU in the 5G core network (5GC), and link an existing PDN to the MA-PDU. WTRU may have an MA-PDU session established in 5GC with both 3GPP and non-3GPP access branches in 5GC, and WTRU can replace the 3GPP access branch in 5GC with a suitable PDN connection in EPC. wTRU can send a request to establish a single-access PDU session in 5GC via non-3GPP access, and the 5GC network can upgrade the PDU session established for WTRU to an MA-PDU with the 3GPP access branch in EPC.
