Abstract

The invention relates to a shoe sole construction for footwear comprising a cushioning pouch and a lateral compartment isolated from the lateral compartment. The lateral compartment is constructed in the form of a drawn-out tube, and has a heel portion establishing the lateral periphery of the cushioning pouch, a lateral branch extending from the heel portion establishing the lateral periphery of the cushioning pouch, and a central branch extending from the heel portion establishing the central periphery of the cushioning pouch. The articular spacer includes a strap connecting the calcaneal compartment to the peripheral compartment, with the calcaneal compartment positioned between the medial and lateral branches and anterior to the peripheral compartment in the calcaneal region of the spacer. The articular spacer may include the forefoot compartment and additional, specifically shaped, metatarsal compartments.
