Abstract

The invention relates to wireless communication, and more specifically to transmitters and receivers for wireless communication and methods of wireless communication made by such devices. In some respects, the transmitter can broadcast a set of first-network encoded packets for reception by multiple receivers, and receive feedback information associated with the first-network encoded packet set. This feedback indicates that one or more of the multiple receivers failed to successfully receive a number of network encoded packets that met the decoding threshold associated with the recovery of multiple source packets. The first subset of the network-encoded packets in the first set of network-encoded packets was not successfully received by at least one set of packets. The transmitter may broadcast a second set of network-encoded packets. The second set of network-encoded packets may contain at least two subsets of the first set of network-encoded packets. The invention also addresses many other aspects.
