Abstract

The term "invention" refers to the methods and machines used to locate user equipment. The invention proposes techniques for passively locating user equipment (UE) using analog beamforming techniques. The example method for locating a stationary human-device includes the following steps: receiving the first positioning reference signal from the first base station at the first time; receiving the first positioning difference based on two or more positioning reference signals transmitted from the first base station; receiving the second positioning reference signal from the second base station at the second time; and receiving the second positioning difference based on two or more positioning reference signals transmitted from the second base station. and determine the arrival time difference between the first and second positioning reference signals based at least in part on the first and second positioning time difference values.
