Wireless communication devices and methods of wireless communication by these devices

Abstract

This invention relates to improved methods, devices, and systems for bandwidth breakdown mitigation. More specifically, it presents several implementations involving channel breakdown indicators that support channel breakdown mitigation across the bandwidth achievable under the IEEE 802.11 revision (IEEE Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and future generations of the IEEE 802.11 standard. In some deployment scenarios, the access point (AP) can communicate static channel breakdown information to each associated wireless station (STA) in its Basic Service Set (BSS). In other deployment scenarios, the transmit opportunity (TXOP) can communicate dynamic channel breakdown information to the TXOP responder it intends to communicate with. Furthermore, according to some implementation schemes, the TXOP responder may communicate additional information about the broken channel to the TXOP holder in response to information about the broken channel. The invention also relates to a wireless communication device and a method of wireless communication by such device.
