Abstract

The invention relates to a display system output manager and a method of a display system output manager. Displays with high frames-per-second (FPS) rates are becoming more common in devices such as smartphones, laptops, etc. To display data on display units, the Vsync-app sync signal (vertical sync signal for the application cycle) and the Vsync-sf sync signal (vertical sync signal with the same frequency cycle) control rendering time and layout. Typically, there is a Vsync-app and a Vsync-sf for the display, and both share the same frequency as the display hardware's Vsync hardware. As screen frame rates (FPS) increase, meaning as the frequency of the Vsync hardware increases, some application layers may not render fast enough to keep up with the increased frequency. To address this, it is proposed to provide multiple Vsync-apps with different frequencies and phases, and different Vsync-apps can be used to control the rendering time of different application layers. Through such application layer rendering management, a better user experience can be provided.
