Abstract

The device, system, and method for the user device (CUE) implements a method supporting the message region (RNA) mechanism of the radio-recognized access network (RAN) when the small data transmission (SDT) process is activated for the user device (UE). This method may include a step where the UE receives, from the guard station, an SDT process activation indicator along with an RNA timer configuration indicator, a transition to the inactive state of the radio resource controller (RRC), and an RNA timer initialization step based on the RNA timer configuration. The UE may, after initiating the SDT process, use the RNA timer, and, after completing the SDT process, initialize the RNA timer. During the SDT process, the UE may receive any of the following: SDT completion indicator, transmission process indicator based on SDT, or termination indicator. The next step in the development process is to follow the SDT, which may include configuring the updated RNA timer (and / or reconfiguring the RNA timer).
