METHODS FOR IMPROVING HEAT TRANSFER EFFICIENCY USING STEAM

Abstract

This study proposes a method to improve heat transfer efficiency using steam in steam systems at pH less than 7. The method for improving heat transfer efficiency using steam involves the presence of sarcosin compounds in the steam system at pH less than 7, either in the step of introducing steam into the heat exchanger to heat the object to be heated or in the step of the steam contacting the cooling unit to liquefy the water. Long-chain sarcosin compounds, represented by the following formula (I), are preferred. In formula (I), R' is a straight-chain or branched hydrocarbon group with or without carbon atoms, containing 7 to 24 carbon atoms. Π is an atomic number from 0 to 2, and R2 is a hydrogen atom or group that forms the salt.
