WIRELESS TRANSMITTER / RECEIVER EQUIPMENT (WTRU) AND THE METHOD IMPLEMENTED BY WIRELESS TRANSMITTER / RECEIVER EQUIPMENT (WTRU)

Abstract

Propose methods, devices, systems, structures, and interfaces for a wireless transceiver unit (WTRU) to perform client-side edge resolution (cERP) functionality. The method may include any of the following: (1) a step to determine the fully valid domain name (FQDN) associated with the application's uplink helper (DNS) request associated with the WTRU; (2) if the FQDN is associated with a valid EI record, (3) a step to select the EI record to resolve the FQDN to an IP address; (4) if the FQDN is not associated with a valid EI record: (5) a step to send a DNS query to the DNS server; (6) a step to receive the IP address associated with the selected EI from which the FQDN was resolved; and (7) a step to update the EI record with the IP address and EQDN; and a step to create a traffic routing rule to redirect the application-associated uplink traffic to the selected EI.
