Abstract

The invention relates to a method, location server, and base station for locating user equipment. During a locating session, the wake-up signal (WUS) configuration for a user equipment (UE) operating in discontinuous reception (DRX) mode can be adjusted to avoid secondary serving cells (SCells) that are asleep for locating. For example, the location server can create a locating data configuration and schedule an uplink probe reference signal (SRS) to exclude SCells that are asleep for the UE. Alternatively, the location server can provide the serving base station, which supports the primary serving cell (PCell) for the UE, with an indicator of which SCells will be used for locating. SCclls can be removed from the sleep list during a location session or can be removed from sleep mode for all or selected monitoring occasions during the location session.
