Electrical connector

Abstract

The invention relates to an electrical connector consisting of a slot, two rows of terminals, a loss element, and at least one metal plate. The two rows of terminals are located on either side of the slot along the front-to-back direction. Each row of terminals consists of several signal connectors and several ground connectors arranged side-by-side along the left-to-right direction. The metal plate is positioned between the loss element and the corresponding row of terminals. The loss element passes through the metal plate and is electrically coupled to the ground connector. Along the front-to-back direction, the metal plate shields the signal connector, so that the loss element does not absorb (or partially attenuate) the signal transmitted by each signal connector to the receiver (as a system), thereby optimizing the insertion loss of the electrical connector, and improving the SI of the electrical connector.
