Abstract
The invention relates to a compound 7-O-acetyl-4-O-acetate-1-β-D-glucopyranosyl iridoid, an iridoid glycoside compound, which was first extracted and isolated from the above-ground parts of Mussaenda pubescens Dryand. The invention also relates to a method for the extraction, isolation, and purification of this compound from a natural medicinal source, comprising the following main steps: (i) preparation of plant material; (ii) extraction of material by ethanol and solvent distribution; and (iii) isolation of the target compound by chromatographic methods, including medium-pressure liquid chromatography (MPLC) and reversed-phase column chromatography (RP-18). The isolated compound exhibits potent tyrosinase inhibitory activity, with potential applications in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and skincare.
