Abstract

The invention proposes a process to enhance the spore formation efficiency of Bacillus bacteria by expressing one or more manganese-binding proteins on the spore surface. The manganese-binding proteins are designed to fuse with the structural proteins of the spore coat and are regulated to express simultaneously with spore differentiation, allowing for the creation of a mechanism for local manganese capture. The process shortens the time to reach spore maturity, increases the efficiency and number of spores formed, and improves the spore's resistance to chemical and physical agents. The solution is applicable to various spore-forming bacterial strains for use in vaccine production, biological products, and other biotechnology applications.
