Abstract

The invention relates to a self-propelled device operating within a pipe based on oscillations generated by pneumatic energy combined with anisotropic friction at the contact area with the pipe wall. The device comprises a pneumatic oscillator in the form of a piston-cylinder and a contact assembly with the pipe wall configured to generate different friction forces in two axial directions. This converts piston oscillations into directed translational motion of the device along the length of the pipe. The device can carry working mechanisms to perform engineering tasks inside the pipe.
