Abstract
The invention proposes an active electronically scanned array (AESA) antenna with elements arranged in an isosceles triangle. Antenna elements in the same row are spaced dx apart; between rows, elements are arranged in an alternating pattern, with even rows remaining constant and odd rows shifted horizontally by dx / 2, thus forming an isosceles triangle between adjacent antenna elements in two rows. Thanks to this arrangement, the isosceles triangle-shaped array is capable of dispersing side lobe energy diagonally instead of concentrating it horizontally and vertically as in a square array. This significantly reduces side lobe levels when scanning in space, particularly effective when scanning at angles up to 60°. This is while ensuring ease of fabrication, manufacturing, and mechanical integration for AESA radar applications.
