Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing a 5-layer membrane electrode assembly (MEA) for a membrane-based proton exchange fuel cell. Specifically, the invention proposes a method for producing a 5-layer membrane electrode assembly using a decal transfer and spray coating method, in which the catalyst layer coated on the cathode side has a higher Pt content than the anode. The combination of decal transfer and spray coating methods allows for easy adjustment of the desired precious metal content at the cathode while ensuring favorable water conduction, thereby limiting the deactivation of the precious metal catalyst during fuel cell operation. Consequently, the efficiency and conversion rate of the fuel cell are improved.
