Abstract

The invention relates to a method for increasing the activity of a urease inhibitor compound from the extract of white turmeric (Curcuma aromatica Salisb.), which includes the following steps: i) deacetylation of the urease inhibitor compound from the white turmeric extract, which is a dihydroxyheptanoid derivative with the formula 3,5-diacetoxy-1-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-7-(4'-hydroxyphenyl)heptane (also known as compound 1); and ii) obtaining a compound with urease inhibitory activity (3R,5S>3,5-dihydroxy-1-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-7-(4'-hydroxyphenyl)heptane (also known as compound 1a) with the following formula (I):
