Abstract
The invention proposes a process for preparing solid electrolytes for lithium batteries by in-situ polymerization of 1,3-dioxolan (DOL) and mixing with a mixture of lithium salts. The solution proposed in this invention differs in that the combination of in-situ polymerization of 1,3-dioxolan (DOL) using a mixture of lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI) and lithium difluorophosphate (LiDFP) salts produces a solid electrolyte with high ionic conductivity (2.86 nmS cm-1 at 25°C), an electrochemical stability window of ~4.33 V for oxidation potential and ~-0.076 V for reduction potential, and a sustained discharge capacity of ~150 mAh g-1. Furthermore, the preparation of the electrolyte is not complicated and can be directly used in high-voltage lithium batteries. This invention has great potential for application in lithium-ion batteries used in wireless devices (such as phones and laptops) and electric vehicles.
