Abstract

The invention proposes a variable valve lift mechanism for an engine, comprising a cam assembly, valve rocker arm, high-lift rocker arm, and low-lift rocker arm, where the valve rocker arm is equipped with a movable connecting pin; the low-lift rocker arm drives the valve rocker arm to rotate when the connecting pin is withdrawn from under the high-lift rocker arm, and the high-lift rocker arm moves at idle; when the connecting pin is inserted under the high-lift rocker arm, the high-lift rocker arm presses against the connecting pin to drive the valve rocker arm to rotate, and the low-lift rocker arm moves at idle. Compared to current technology, the mechanism according to the invention, under high-speed operating conditions, reduces the rotational inertia acting on the valve spring, thereby reducing the design force of the valve spring and reducing the power consumption of the variable valve lift rocker arm, thereby significantly improving engine efficiency. The invention also proposes a motorcycle engine including the aforementioned variable valve lift mechanism.
