Abstract

The invention relates to a device and method for decoding video, and a device and method for encoding video. A device for verifying the reliability of a video data stream infers the number of substreams of a given time segment within a given sequence of time segments, in units of which the video data stream is verified for reliability, and also infers information of dependence, which indicates whether such substream is dependent, or whether such substream is dependent on one or more reference substreams. The reliability verification is performed by generating a verification stream based on a hash value obtained from the portion of the substream to be verified and based on a reference hash value. If the substream is independent, the hash value inferred for the corresponding substream of the preceding time segment shall be used as the reference hash value.
