Abstract
The invention proposes a process for fabricating a high-entropy solid electrolyte for use in high-voltage lithium batteries (>4.0 V vs. Li / Li+), in which a mixture of LiTFSI-LiFSI-LiDFP-LiNO3-LiPF6 salts is used in combination with DOL monomer. The solution in this invention differs in that the solvated structure of the high-entropy solid electrolyte is rich in complexes formed between Li+ ions and anions in the salt (ion complexes) while using low salt concentrations, thereby creating electrode protection layers through oxidation or reduction reactions. Furthermore, only one fabrication step is required to obtain a solid electrolyte with high ionic conductivity (5.19 mS cm-1 at 25°C), an electrochemical stability window of ~4.5 V for oxidation potential and ~-0.05 V for reduction potential. Subsequently, it can be used directly for high-voltage lithium batteries with high performance and high charge / discharge capacity (discharge capacity maintained at ~149 mAh g-1). The invention has great potential for application in lithium batteries used in phones, laptops, and electric vehicles.
