Phase balancing method for a 1:16 C-band power splitter / combiner.

Abstract

The invention proposes a phase balancing method for a 1:16 C-band power splitter / combiner, using a triangular dielectric piece fixed on the microstrip transmission line branches. This dielectric piece is positioned to change the local effective dielectric constant, thereby creating the desired phase delay between the branches. The structure allows the same dielectric piece to be used for phase correction across multiple branches simply by changing its position. This technical solution is simple, easy to fabricate, does not alter the original circuit geometry, and is suitable for multi-channel power splitters / combiners such as 1:8 or 1:16 in active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar systems.
