NETWORK OPERATION METHOD BASED ON NETWORK FORWARDING FOR WTRU TARGET OUTSIDE COVERAGE AREA

Abstract

The Wireless Transceiver Unit (WTRU) includes a processor configured to determine that the WTRU anchor supports forwarding functionality for Side Link (SL) positioning. The WTRU may be outside the network's coverage area, and the WTRU anchor may be within the network's coverage area. The processor can establish an indirect Network Access Layer (NAS) connection to the network via the WTRU anchor based on the WTRU anchor's forwarding functionality, determine that the network supports SL positioning via the indirect NAS connection, and perform network-based operations through the WTRU anchor's forwarding functionality based on the determination that the network supports SL positioning.
