Fluid connector

Abstract

The invention relates to a fluid connector comprising a body defining the fluid path and having a connecting base at one end, a valve assembly comprising a ball and a valve stem, a connecting actuator operating with the valve assembly, and an interlocking mechanism. The body defines the axial path with a radial orifice. The interlocking mechanism comprises a drive pin arranged to move within the axial path, an elastic element to push the drive pin, a ball contained in the radial orifice, and a stopper to prevent axial release of the drive pin. The drive pin has a groove, and the actuator has a recess. When the positioning of the connection is not complete, the ball engages in the recess to restrict the rotation of the actuator. When the positioning of the connection is complete, the groove aligns with the ball, allowing the ball to engage in the groove when the actuator is operated to release the obstruction and allow the valve to operate.
