WATER PUMPS AND PUMP HOUSINGS

Abstract

The invention relates to a water pump and a pump casing in which the rotor is assembled. The pump casing comprises a body and several flow-resistance structures arranged on the bottom wall, with grooves formed between each flow-resistance structure and the adjacent flow-resistance structure. The flow-resistance structures combine with the rotor end face to form multi-stage axial throttling channels on the bottom wall. The flow-resistance structures serve to increase the flow resistance against axial leakage flow and to distribute the axial thrust generated by pressure differentials on both sides of the rotor, thereby suppressing rotor axial oscillations and wear caused by contact between the rotor end face and the inner surface of the pump casing, to reduce energy consumption and operating noise, and to improve the operating efficiency and service life of the water pump.
