PRODUCTION PROCESS OF ORTHO METOXYCINAMYL ACETATE FROM CINNAMON ESSENTIAL OIL

Abstract

The invention relates to a process for producing the natural compound ortho methoxycinnamyl acetate (OMCAC) from cinnamon essential oil raw material, comprising the following steps: a) Fractional distillation of cinnamon essential oil to obtain the semi-finished product ortho methoxycinnamaldehyde (OMCA); b) Hydrolysis of the semi-finished product OMCA to convert coumarin present in the semi-finished product into a water-soluble salt; c) Crystallization to obtain pure OMCA crystals; d) Reduction of pure OMCA with a reducing agent to obtain ortho methoxycinnamyl alcohol (OMCAL), followed by esterification of OMCAL to obtain crude OMCAC; and e) Fractional distillation of crude OMCAC to separate the pure OMCAC.
