Abstract
The invention proposes a non-customizable external mandibular advancement device (eMAD) worn outside the face, including: (i) A face support structure: acting as an anchor point, placed outside the user's face, which can be a mask, frame, or headgear. This structure is secured by straps over the top of the head (headscarf), over the nape of the neck (back of the head), over the ears, or a combination of these forms. Based on the author's practical experience, the mask (M1) is secured by elastic bands which also transmit the pulling force. This reduces the cumbersome straps while still stabilizing Mask (M1). Meanwhile, M2 requires an elastic band over the head to help M2 fit snugly against the jaw angle, facilitating support and force transmission so that elastic band 2 pulls M2 forward.(ii) Support elements: at least two support elements are positioned to make direct or indirect contact with the mandibular angle or adjacent mandibular angle of the user; (iii) Connecting structure of the two support elements: two support elements are connected by a U-shaped spring-shaped elastic structure positioned under the user's chin; (iv) Force transmission mechanism: connecting the face support structure and the support elements, configured to generate forward traction. This invention's solution does not have any traditional MAD devices that use the mandibular angle as a point of support to pull the jaw from outside the face. The invention's device operates independently of the patient's dental condition, does not lock the mouth, avoids saliva contamination, and is standardized, thus not requiring separate fabrication.
