PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING MODIFIED BIOCARCOAL FROM CHLORELLA BIOMASS USING CITRIC ACID FOR ORGANIC DYE TREATMENT

Abstract

The invention relates to a process for producing modified biochar derived from Chlorella biomass, which includes the following steps: a) raw material processing; b) raw material mixing; c) modified biochar production by surface activation. The process described in the invention is capable of producing biochar at a yield of 100 kg of biochar per 200 kg of biomass powder. The biochar obtained from the process described in the invention has been successfully used to adsorb methylene blue organic dye from synthetic wastewater. Adsorption capacity studies of the modified biochar showed that the degradation efficiency of 20 ppm methylene blue dye reached over 90% at pH = 8 after 60 minutes of adsorption.
