Abstract
The invention relates to a connected device controller operating in conjunction with a switchgear to activate the switchgear in a manner that selects the switchgear to connect such a device to alternating current. The device controller implements a zero-point control module, synchronizing the activation of the switchgear with the zero-point of the alternating current. The zero-point control module is independent of the amplitude and frequency of the alternating current. For example, the zero-point control module synchronizes the activation of the switchgear with the zero-point of the alternating current to minimize the excitation current to a DC fan or refrigeration compressor. The controller is used to activate the switchgear of the device at the switching activation time determined by the zero-point control module, producing a phase difference between the switchgear and the actual zero-point of the alternating current < ± 35°.
