Stackable storage containers with a self-locking stacking system.

Abstract

The invention relates to a stackable mobile storage system. According to various schemes, the stackable container comprises stacking locks that can be automatically deployed to lock the stackable containers together when the first container is placed on top of the second. A three-state locking system is used to lock the containers in the stacking configuration. Deep bevels on the bottom and top surfaces of the containers allow for automatic alignment of the containers. When the containers are stacked and aligned, a locking status indicator is activated to indicate the state of the stacking locks. The locking status indicator may also have an additional function allowing the user to unlock the stacked containers to separate and remove them from the stack. The user cannot manually lock the containers but can manually unlock them.
