Abstract
The invention proposes a method for improving the accuracy of angle of arrival measurement in active phased array radar (AESA) systems using digital beamforming and adaptive spectral interpolation techniques based on SNR. The receiving antenna elements are arranged in two orthogonal directions, corresponding to the azimuth and elevation angles, with the element spacing potentially exceeding the wavelength, in a specific implementation being three times the radar's operating wavelength. The technical solution allows for a reduction in errors due to the quantization of the angle grid of discrete FFTs or DBFs, increasing the accuracy of azimuth and elevation angle measurements without increasing the number of antenna elements, significantly increasing the Fourier transform size or hardware complexity, and is suitable for real-time implementation on FPGAs, DSPs, or GPUs in modern AESA radar systems.
